Wow! So it’s starts off as your typical mafia style romance, but wow!! I did not expect what comes. And I didn’t expect to cry towards the end either. Wasn’t ready for it. Beautiful story. I loved the back stories as well. So well written (as always).

This series has been a hit or miss for me. I loved the first book, the second one was not the greatest and honestly this one was just okay. I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it either. Definitely had a variety of mix feelings about the whole thing. I’m coughing it up to the plot of the story, maybe mobsters just don’t do it for me.

There were parts in the story that made me so angry of how naive and obsessed Ashling was but then there’s moments where you’re like ‘she’s a badass’, can’t believe she managed that. So I’m left thinking, “which one is she?”

Don’t get me started with Sam, he was a total asshat. Was he hot? Yes! - Was he damn sexy? Yes! - Would I want him to jump my bones and enjoy that pool table scene? Hella Yes! But at the same time I can’t handle that ‘I-get-everything-I-want-cause-I-can’ attitude and the fact that Ashling just takes it; wasn’t my cup of tea.

As far as smuttiness; it was hot but I could have wanted more.

Story/Plot: ⭐️⭐️.5
Trope: Contemporary Romance
Spice:

Toxic, ale jaka uzależniająca. W sumie jak każda z książek Shen XD

I feel bad for Sam.  His mom didn't want him so she left him with his aunt and uncle at age 9.  He had a very rough 9 years leading up to that event, which I think helped shape him into the man he was in this book.

Ainsling wanted to be a doctor.  After having a co-dependent mother, she wanted to be able to take care of others as an adult.  What she says she's doing for work vs what she's actually doing are two very different types of medicine.

The two meet after a life altering event happens for Ainsling.  She falls head over heels for Sam but the feelings aren't mutual.  Or so she's led to believe. Ten years later she's still seeing Sam since he "works" for her father and family.  She works hard on rekindling a relationship while he works harder on his revenge plot for those that did him wrong .

Wow, Just Wow

I adore LJ Shen’s books, but this was a masterpiece. I laughed, I cried, I cursed. Bravo, LJ! I highly recommend.

Favorite Shen book to date

Loved these characters so much! Seeing Aisling in her element was fantastic and the chemistry between her and Sam was
