I liked some of his other books more like scythe and dry but still was a decent book

I absolutely loved Unwind (and it still has one of the creepiest scenes I've ever read, haunting a few years later), and had such high hopes for book #2 in the series. Alas, as I've found in many series, especially trilogies, #2 feels so much like a vessel just to get you from book #1 to book #3. Yes, there was action, but it all seemed designed simply to pave the road to the next book. The lack of any resolution just left me unsatisfied.

The second in the series slowed down a bit, especially in the middle. Most if this book was positioning the characters for the next book. The end was action packed though and sets up the next book well. The kids are about to stage an uprising.

I have waited for this book for 3 years. It is a compelling sequel that further explores a United States that has outlawed abortion but allows parents to unwind their child retroactively as a teenager. The book introduces some new characters, and some new storylines. It leaves a huge cliffhanger on all storylines so I hope we don't have to wait forver(more than a year) for the conclusion.

This was such an interesting turn of events after the end of the last book. I found the introduction of Cam fascinating, because of the way it plays on so many interesting questions (trying not to say anything spoilery, but this bracketed section might be slightly - I found it interesting in the same way that I find the debate on whether artificial intelligence can be human etc. interesting). Aside from that and the ending of the book, I don't feel like as much happened in this book which is why I gave it a slightly lower rating than the previous one.

I was all prepared to say that the sequel is never as good as the original, but this quick YA read holds up to the first book in the series just fine. Our beloved characters are back, new ones are added, new ethical dilemmas to solve, the whole 9. In another year or two, I'll have to read the third one.
