Dear Diary...

Wedding crashers, sniffing odd things and writing on fruit....are all the cute and quirky things that I love about Hudson and Stella's story.

Fat-fingering in the wrong phone # almost cost Stella the chance of a lifetime. And the nagging insecurities whispering in her head almost had her walking away from it all.

Who would have thought that Stella's quirky habit of reading journals as a hobby would have led her down the major disaster in their story. That crappy ex-roommate of hers needs to seriously atone for her ridiculous case of stinky fingers (nevermind that she is just an overall flaky person).

Thankfully, once all the diary disaster shell-shock wore off, Stella and Hudson were able to find their happily ever after.

This book made me laugh so many times; still have a smile on my face as I am typing this review. Vi never disappoints and The Invitation is no exception.

The Invitation was so sweet, I literally had a moment where I thought to myself, why can't my husband have more romance in his bones. I had a smile on my face and tears in my eyes, and this is not a clique. I had a momentary meltdown with my book bestie about this super sweet read. It took me back to young love and early days. The perfect little escape for a winter rainy day where you can't leave the house anyway.

Stella is fun and spunky and I loved how she gave Hudson a run for his money, adding levity and fun to his workaholic life. Circumstances and fate bring them together time and again. Fortunately for us readers, they don't fight the inevitable. I really enjoy Stella's sass and Hudson's enjoyment of it throughout the story. You kind of want to hate him a little in the beginning but he rapidly grows on you.

Take 2 endearing characters, a super sniffer nose, a diary obsession and a perfume chemist in need of a white night and you have a fun story to pass the time. Looking for something light and sweet, this is the story you need to pick up.

Been awhile since I read a book in that short a period of time! I started this after I finished another book last night because I just wasn’t quite ready to be done reading yet (you know what I mean), and I read until way past my bedtime, and then finished up right before work this morning. 4 stars because the plot beats/twist were really predictable, but that was also kind of refreshing because the groundwork for them was clearly laid, and that is not always the case - some of these twists come out of left field - not the case here. Solid spice. Overall fun!

Ok this book was super adorable. I really love Hudson and Stella - though I gotta admit I didn’t love the name Stella. Just irked me a little for some reason. But I did love her. She was so cute and wacky and adorable. And the chemistry between her and Hudson was amazing.
The only thing stopping this book from being 5 starts was the weird focus on her job for the first half of the book. I swear to the heavens that her and Hudson barely even talked cos there was just so much information about her job as a perfumist - someone who makes perfume - which is such a cool job, but I’m not here for a detailed description on how to start up a scented business. Like I legit feel like I could probs start up my own business cos the first half of this book was more instruction manual. However if you can get passed that half of the book it becomes much more relationship focused and thank goodness for that.
I loved that our heroine came with a little superpower of her own, Hyperosmia - which is a brighter sense of smell, and allows her to be able to put together perfumes so well. I honestly quite liked everything about Stella. I honestly don’t think I have anything bad to say about her or Hudson or even the side characters. They were all very thought out and well written. I think the only thing I would want more of is their relationship. But I’m also fairly happy with the pacing of the book too. Them two taking forever to get together seemed to have its place too. It made it feel like they didn’t rush into anything because they’d known each other and were pretty well friends by the time a romantic relationship started.
Overall this is a really good book and I enjoyed it a lot. I loved the plot twists and even though it was kinda easy to guess where the book was going I still enjoyed the ride!

WOW!

I've said it before and will again - this author always takes a story and delivers something you never even knew you were getting into. The twists and turns of this book made this one I couldn't put down!

From the start Hudson and Stella hit it off but since it started with a lie it became rocky quick. When their lives continued to intersect the story really begins. With a quirky habit and striving to be everything she wants Stella is a character to love. Hudson was just amazing even when he was being a bit of a hard head.

There came a point in this story where I thought I had it all figured out but once it was all unraveled, although I was right about some of it, when so many more details came to light my mind was blown. This book will take you for a full ride and you will not be disappointed.

I might or might not have picked this book because Nick Bateman is on the cover but unlike Miss Keeland's other books, this one did not deliver.

Starting with the plot which was a mess of various events, crashing the wedding of the MMC's sister, a lot of business talk that I was not interested in that leads to a boss/employee relationship to the end with a plot twist that I saw coming from the beginning.

Second were the characters, while I warmed up to Hudson by the last quarter or so( single dads in books are my weakness so it might have something to do with it) I couldn't for the life of me like Stella. Our FMC has a weird tendency of sniffing random stuff and even a weirder hobby: read other people's diaries. I'm sure the author was aiming for an endearing and cute character but the only thing that Stella gave me was secondhand embarrassment.
Sure, she's a perfumist and has an extraordinary sense of smell( forgot the scientific name) and the diary reading has a big role at the end but that doesn't mean I should like it.

Even so, it did manage to make me laugh a couple times and keep me entertained so overall, The Invitation is a light, quick story to read between heavy books and have a good time.

Vi Keeland writes some of the most swoon-worthy men, and Hudson was no exception.
