"It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to, than I have ever known"

That actually gave me chills. I had pretty much given up on Dickens until I picked up this book. Granted, it took ages to get through, and does get slow at times but when it does pick up – wow. The way events are described, the mob, the terror, the blood, it just completely sucked me in. Dickens somehow manages to write scenes with such impact, I was so impressed and in awe. The entire book is just overflowing with powerful characters and powerful scenes. I definitely see why this has become such a classic.

Wordy, because Dickens and the time period - but wow. Dickens is so good at insults and plot twists and still giving the reader a satisfying ending. Impressed.

You know, Charles Dickens never ends up disappointing me. This book started out great, and although the middle got kinda boring, the end almost brought me to tears (even though my edition of the book had a spoiler in the appendix that I'd been trying to avoid for half a year!)
I felt like, compared to Great Expectations especially, the characters in Tale of Two Cities were a bit lacking, but because Charles Dickens is a genius, they're better than I'll ever hope to create!

Honestly, for something I had to read for school, this was pretty good. The writing is actually really good, yes it's old-timey, but with some thinking through you can understand and enjoy this book. We love a good old-timey book. ;)

I had a hard time getting into the book, much like when I read Great Expectations, but just like that wonderful book, this one too, turned into a great tale. The twists that suddenly all come together in his stories are proof to me of a good storyteller. I think its just the different era that the book was written in that takes me awhile to get into the books, but the story becomes captivating, even though the story can be very difficult because of the events taking place during that time in French history. And as I read the last sentence of the book, I knew it well, which in part, is because I had heard the words before, but never knew where they came from. Now, knowing the context our of which they come, will make those words even more meaningful than before.

Perfectly beautiful, truly, a masterpiece

This was an interesting novel about salvation. However, I just couldn't get into the characters and the plot was difficult to follow until the last few chapters when everything started to make sense. I struggled through this and was looking forward to finishing it so I could read something else. This may make me a philistine but it's just not my cup of tea.
