4.5 probs. And oh my god, Sydney Carton. New fave character.
I loved this so much. Like everyone said, it's a very slow book, but that didn't bother me too much while reading it.
I went into this book not knowing much about it, and in my opinion it's the best way to go about reading it. In the beginning, we are introduced to a great cast of characters and it's not clear at all why they're important or what they bring to the story. By the end of the book, everything is cleared up perfectly and it comes together really nicely. I loved all the characters and got really attached to them. The ending is really heartbreaking as well, but fitting.
I also really loved Dickens' writing. It was kind of difficult at times for me to understand, but I think I got used to it by the end of it. I loved his descriptions, his metaphors, the criticism illustrated through the language he uses and his wit.
So yeah, I can safely say I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

What an intense ending. What a cast of interesting, complicated characters. It certainly wasn't an easy or a fast read, but I'm glad I read it. I plodded along through most of it, but really enjoyed the end. Would probably give it a 3.5.

Takes quite a while to really kick into high gear but holy sh*t is Dickens cooking with gas in the last hundred pages.
This was an incredible story about the French revolution. Dickens has a way of capturing the despair, depravity, and poverty of the times while still creating noble and good characters. This book makes me so grateful to live now and here rather than in England or France in the late 18th century.
Rated PG-13 for violence. I found some of the descriptions of graphic and disturbing. This book deals a lot with violence/mistreatment of peasants by aristocrats and then with violence of the revolutionists against the aristocracy.

Charles Dickens, you write such interesting plots, but why do they have to be so drawn out?? Of course, I enjoyed this book and thought it well worth the read :)
