I saw Sarah Breathnach on Oprah Winfrey (OWN) on Super Soul Sunday and was impressed with her honesty regarding her life and her journey of loss and abundance. She was truly authentic and humble. Was so excited to find her audio at audible.com Simple Abundance. I would highly recommend the audio (she is also the narrator) as her voice is so soothing (her voice in itself is quite calming) and I listen while working on the computer). She leads listeners on a journey of self and spirit, illuminated by six simple principles: Gratitude, Simplicity, Order, Harmony, Beauty, and Joy. She demonstrates the discovery of everyday life can be an expression of their authentic selves, leading them on their own true path to a happier, more fulfilling, and contented way of life.

I have since started keeping a gratitude journal, which is very helpful and insightful. I have ordered her other audio book which goes into more detail about her loss after gaining wealth from her success. It is called Peace and Plenty: Finding Your Path to Financial Serenity.

I am loving OWN Network and Super Soul Sunday as so inspirational!

Okay, while I admit I haven't read every essay in this collection, I've flipped through and enjoyed many of these passages throughout the year. This is good stuff, and it will give you a lot to think about. Much like a daily devotional (but without the overt religious content), there is a short, introspective essay for each day of the year, with overarching themes for each month. Each encourages the reader to see the joy in the ordinary. I love it and frequently refer back when I'm craving an inspirational word or a reminder to be grateful for my 'simple abundance.'

Number 1 thing I took from this book of daily readings was the concept of a gratitude journal. Daily record 5 things you can b grateful for, such sound advice and a good use of one's energy. Other top concepts and ideas gleamed: creative excursions, guardian angels, discovery journal and the monthly lists of 'Simplicities' - where I discovered Fidget Pie and how to celebrate Michaelmas.

I've read this daily comfort book many times. Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach may not apply to everyone, but the understanding behind her ideas can lift anyone. Simple Abundance is a reminder to take some time for yourself and to understand the real you, not the you that someone else wants you to be or that you feel you should be (i.e. the perfect wife, mother, etc.).

This book found me just when I needed it most...I am giving this book 5 stars because it did provide daily comfort and joy during an otherwise difficult time. (And, I am a quote junkie, so I really appreciated the inspiration provided.)

One word of caution: This book is sometimes a bit "over the top" and sometimes a little "flowery" for my usual taste, but again, it was perfect for the adversity I was experiencing at the time.
