It took me way too long to get through this.
It wasnt at all what i expected it to be, it started off strong and i was looking forward to an adventure with Shiori and Seyru.
Not a lot happened overall and the plot was a slow burner.
However, the world building and the characters were amazing. Especially Shiori, Kiki, Megari and Takkan. I loved the magical elements, even the romance (even though romance isnt my thing). Not to mention the beauriful writing style.

A beautiful story with a powerful and strong female lead, who stuck to her true personality and didn't falter for the sake of plot.
I wasn't sure if there was going to a love triangle in the mix (which is no longer my cup of tea) but I'm glad it doesn't seem to be going that way so far.
I love when a story doesn't take the direction that we've been led to believe all along, and when the pieces start to fall into place and make sense in the end. I would have liked to see more of Shiori's brothers, as I highly enjoyed the siblings working together, but I can't complain when the story was from her perspective.
Overall very enjoyable and immersive! When I wasn't reading (listening in this case), I would think about it and want to continue, which is my number one goal when reading anything.
Highly recommended!

This was an amazing book! I knew the fairy tale that it was a retelling of and I love how Lim reformed it. The book cover alone is stunning and I really enjoyed the character development that Shiori went through. I think this was a great fantasy book and would be a good entry to the fantasy genre for those who are unsure. I can't wait for the sequel to come out!

I came to this book through the author's TikTok (I'm extremely happy that authors can promote their books on TikTok so easily now). I had no idea what to expect, but I didn't expect such a beautiful and complex story. I liked every page of this book and the inspiration behind it: East Asian folklore and The Wild Swans by Andersen.
