3.5 stars. I really enjoyed the take on how your family can impact the way you view relationships, and I think the author handled the topic of virginity with great compassion. Hope Cynthia Hand writes more contemporaries because this was so entertaining and easy to read.

I think this might make a fun summer beach read. It was easy to read and didn't require a lot of thought. I was annoyed at the lack of communication between some of the characters though, which of course, even the tiniest bit of communication would have solved the major problem in this book. So I guess the author couldn't do that or the book would be over.

A student recommended this to me so I read it for her. It was a fairly good YA novel, but it just felt very familiar. Like I’ve read the book in a slightly different form several times before. Overall, not a bad read.

Just not my vibe. Moved a bit slow. Was predictable. Had a trope I do not like.

Cynthia Hand has such a lovely style of writing. This novel was both lighthearted and serious, perfectly balanced. It was comedic at times, but held a lot of value. The characters were easy to love and connect with, and the story was interesting from beginning to end.

This book was pretty good, I just didn’t connect with any of the characters.

A fun read, but also a thoughtful, sex-positive examination of being “ready for it.”

I'm definitely no longer the correct audience for this book. But I tried to think about it from a 16-year-old me's perspective, and as an awkward teen that was very uncomfortable with the topic of sex, I think I would have liked this book even more as a teenager. Growing up, I too have sisters that were hard to live with sometimes and that's really what this story focuses on. It's a story of family and responsibility and choices. But it also talks about consent, sex, cheating, and the importance of communication. I liked all of these themes. I think they were well done together. It didn't feel like there was too much going on. I also liked the characters.

This was such a cute, quick read. I really enjoyed the main character and her development throughout. It was an easy read, didn’t cause any anxiety, and was fun to get through. I really enjoyed that it addressed serious topics with a level of maturity, but full self awareness by the main character by the end of the novel that perhaps these serious topics aren’t as simple as she once thought, and that has nothing to do with her age.

I will say, I did figure out the “twist” pretty quickly, but that isn’t a bad thing. I read it as more of a comment on the main character’s tunnel vision at the time, rather than a story device.

Overall, this one was happy good.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! It was kind of similar to Breathless by Jennifer Niven which was also my favorite of this year. This book is about Ada who finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her before she leaves on her trip to Hawaii with her family. Later she finds her mom is having an affair and now wants to lose her virginity so she decides to make a plan. You are probably reading this and are like huh why did she read this book and how did she enjoy it. First of all the writing of this book was amazing and the story flowed really well. The pacing was perfect and I wasn’t bored at all while reading this book. The author did an incredible job bringing the story to life with her writing and also her characters.

I enjoyed the main character, Ada. She is a typical teenager and you can understand what she is going through easily. I also loved her sister who reminded me kind of like Mor from ACOTAR because of her features and a red dress she wore in this book. I also enjoyed the supporting characters in this book. Ada and her sister both developed a lot throughout the story and I loved their sisterly bond. There is also romance in this book which you might love.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The whole story was very easy to process and understand so it was kind of like a comfy read. I had no problems with this book at all. This is perfect for those who are fans of Jennifer Niven and those whole love contemporary books.
