had so much potential but went on and on and on....
really disliked sunny acting like she was emotionally mature when she was just being emotionally rigid. beckett was cute but needed to deal with his need to take care of everyone sooner. loved the cameos from noah and shay

Wow. Just. Wow. This had it all. Enemies to lovers? Check. Older brothers best friend? Check. Age gap? Check. He fell first and hard? Check. NO MISCOMMUNICATION TROPE? We've got a winner!!
This book was so cute and sweet and had be blushing, giggling, kicking my feet. Our heroine, Sunny, is strong, brave, wise. She does not misunderstand situations, which I love. I hate when the heroine is so bright and smart and independent, and then suddenly becomes an idiot because she overheard or misunderstood something. Not our Sunny. She takes everything with a grain of salt and listens to our boy Beck.
And Beck?? Obsessed, just like he is with Sunny. The way he describes her and being in her presence is swoon worthy. Must read.

This was a sweet romcom story. Our heroes, Beck and Sunny, know each other from their teen years due to Beck being friends with Sunny's brother- and yeah, the "she's my best friend's little sister" narrative does come into play.
It gives a lot: grumpy/sunshine, small town, enemies to lovers, best friend's sibling, bit of an age gap but nothing too noticeable. Honestly, it's- as I already said- sweet.
I can't say I'm obsessed with it. The whole brother angle isn't really important as the aforementioned brother isn't there and he is not SUCH a strong presence in either of their lives. The supporting characters are cute. I'd recommend it as a good palette cleanser.

I had the opportunity to read this book's ARC, and thank you so much, Kate!
Favorite quotes:
"Anything you want. Anything, Sunny. You could rip my heart out of my chest and make me stare at it while I die, and I wouldn't fault you for it"
"I want to sit across from you knowing that everyone else in the world wants to be near you, wants your attention, and I was the one who got it for these short hours."
What this book is about:
All Beckett Loew wanted was to stay as far away as possible from his small town, Friendship, Rhode Island, but due to some crazy confusion at his family’s oyster bar making him move back to take care of it, and his little brother, what he didn't expect was to find this beautiful woman who just opened a vegan café right next to him that seems to occupy his mind more than it should.
Sunny duJardin never felt like she belonged somewhere, and after winning an entire establishment on a poker game, she decides to move back to her hometown to open a café with her best friends, but she wasn't prepared to see her brother's best friend who used to make fun of her when she was a kid back in town and seems to want to solve all of her problems and even if she doesn't want to deal with him, they can't stay away from each other.
My Opinion:
This is my second Kate book, and I really enjoyed it, The book it's pretty fast-paced with appealing backgrounds for the characters outside their relationship, Sunny's chronic illness (epilepsy) was interesting and gave me a little more understanding of it.
Sunny and Beck's romance was fun and their bitterness was SO good!
I'm not very fond of all of the "I can't even look at you because you're my best friend's little sister, even if you're a grown-up adult" but I believe this was well done here, and it wasn't an issue for their relationship and it wasn't a reason for them not being together.
Overall this was a really sweet and fun book, Beckett is SO OBSESSED with her in such a cute way that got me giggling and kicking my feet, which is EXACTLY what I look for in a romcom. I gave this book 3.75 stars, and absolutely recommend it.

why did all the action happen in the last 50 pages of the book 🫠 I can't even say i understand how their relationship got resolved and what thoughts beck thought during their three second long hiatus
