A good continuation of the series. We get a few more viewpoint characters which i appreciated. A lot of questions raised about what constitutes “using” or “abusing” someone, which is always a good thing to think about. I’m kinda meh on most of it, tbh. Nothing was fantastic but nothing was bad, maybe because I guessed what would happen in most of the plot lines before I read the book. I just want to get to the last book and see what eventually happens! I know they’ll get it to work eventually, but I like the HOW of the journey. So gonna keep listening.

Booklist review:

Grades 8-12. In this sequel to Partials (2012), Wells drops readers right into the action. This is a highly political, post-apocalyptic morality tale where each side sees the other as both threat and salvation. Violent, gory warfare is balanced by a philosophical bioethical dilemma; humanity is teetering on the brink of extinction due to their own blindness in creating genetically modified super soldiers called Partials, who have rebelled against their creators. Partials are dying from a built-in expiration date; humans, from a plague. Kira Walker is a new breed of Partial who may just hold the key to cure both in her DNA. Little backstory and quick-paced alternating points of view make the players and circumstances difficult for newcomers to catch on to, and there are a few jarring anachronistic notes (references to toll roads and quarters although no one has used money in years, for example). But the epic scope and grand adventure will keep readers glued to the page, right up to the cliff-hanger ending, which will leave them screaming for resolution. Osborne, Charli.

I liked this book better than the first one. The characters are more interesting and the story has some unexpected twists. I am curious about the conclusion.

So this one had a slow start for me like the previous book did, but after it picked up speed I was pleasantly enraptured by the to dos of the characters. Kudos to Marcus for stepping up and being a semi major player now, his humour showed, his brain was working, and he wasn't as self involved or whiney to me as I felt he was in the first book, I loved him this time around.
Kira should of spent a bit more time listening to Heron and for Samm following her so blindly and obviously crushing on the girl, she is still oblivious. I like how its all coming together and how Nandita's role is finally being told, I can only hope in the next book Kira finds her dad, or finds out what happened to him, I was biting my nails by the end anxious to see what was going to happen, I liked the intro of Calix and Phan I can see them being a part of the 'group' but was floored by the Afa sitch..I mean, what the......hes there for no reason other than to be carrying the little computer gadget? and then for that to just happen? hmm. over all I really enjoyed this book and I will be impatiently waiting for the next one. and PS, I love that Kira and Samm have a lil something going on, but its not the focus of the book. so when they hint on it, or something happens its that much more satisfying to read.

Fragments did not disappoint. It did feel a bit disjointed at times with the numerous plot lines and PoV characters but I still enjoy the series and am looking forward to the conclusion next year.

A bit too long, but a good well-balanced sequel to the fantastic Partials. Great storyline and character development
