The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires by Molly Harper

I’m having a hard time connecting with the main character.  The emotional aspects seem…off.  I also wish there was a little more…I think it’s called world building.  If someone was interested in a slow mystery, this might, maybe, fit the bill.  Parts are interesting, but I’m not sure it’s enough to hook me to finish.

Entertaining, but sadly too predictable. I solved the "mystery" before the book was half way through, but it gets the third star because there were a few moments that made me laugh. Overall, decent - but nothing special.

The first few pages are an infodump of the kind few fanfic authors I know would perpetrate. Will probably abandon it if there's no improvement soon.

This is a cute, fun, paranormal romance that thinks it's cuter and funnier than it is. The protagonist, Iris Scanlon, is a "daywalker," that is someone who takes care of vampires' needs while they're sleeping or otherwise hiding from the evil day star. At 29, Iris has been responsible for her younger sister Gigi (17, I think) since they're parents died five (?) years ago, so she's got to make a decent living and keep her nose clean.

The world building is solid, and the storytelling is compelling enough that I'll probably read the next one.

Iris Scanlon is the personal assistant to the sunlight challenged, vampire population. She takes care of all those little things that need to be done during daytime hours. When she finds herself caught up in the middle of vampire politics, her first reaction is to run away screaming. The lure of money for the struggling, single guardian is too much to pass up. She and her sister Gigi are all the family each of them have left since their parents passed several years ago.
Cal is an investigator hired by the council, who happens to be a new client for Iris. She stumbles (literally) onto him passed out in his floor, and he offers her an obscene amount of money to let him hide out at her place. Of course things get a little sticky, but nothing that can't be resolved.

Nothing really to write home about. I enjoyed thst in the beginning the main characters didnt just rush into love or anything. most books have ppl meeting and falling in love/having sex two secs later so I apperciated that it didnt happen here. However that was short livid cause within chaps after their first sexual encounter they we all snugglying and in love?? Smh. I don't think i'll be continuing with the series as they are stand alone books. Unless google play has them for sale again.

In this cute return to Half Moon Hollow, Iris, friend of Jane Jameson, is a vampire assistant who takes care of personal tasks for the undead during the day. She comes across Cal after a murder attempt and winds up taking him home while he recuperates. I always enjoy Molly Harper’s blend of paranormal and humor. Cal and Iris have a cute romance as they work to figure out who’s behind the murder attempt and I enjoyed the family and friends relationships in this one, too. Go sisters!
