is it the better understanding of people like James in the world who don't really understand human relations?
Is it sadness for his death?
Is it a warm feeling for the love they shared for each others and their beautiful journey?

10th book of 2018!
I read this book in one sitting before I went to sleep.
I know TEOTFW from Netflix. Yes, the show. Loved it. The show is so much better, tho.
I love the dark humor. Alyssa's character is so savage 😂😂

Read the book before I watch the TV series. Not a big fan of the drawing style but somehow I think it fits the story.

After watching the Netflix show like a year ago, I never knew it was based on a comic book, and boy it did not disappoint!
This is the story about James, a 16 years-old sociopath who pretend to love Alyssa in order to kill her. As he's getting more crazy and sociopathic, he ran away with Alyssa, who wants to see her father that left her when she was 6. They're both cofused about becoming adults and navigating the world, and as they go down the road together, they become more attached, more understanding the world.
ALYSSA
Alyssa is becoming a woman, understanding how relationships and love and sex work. She's the daughter of a mismatched couple, where the father was thrown away from the house because he wasn't reliable. Since then, she had th idea he's the coolest and he'll the one to understand her. Her relationship with James is really weird; first she said he's a shitty skater, than wants him to kiss her back or have sex with her. Maybe she was projecting what she learned from her mom's relationship with her boyfriend.
James
Well James is...James! We are first introduced as a cold person who doesn't understand feelings or morals, but at the end, we see the impact of Alyssa on him.
There's news about a second season, which is nice! If you haven't read the comic/watched the show, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR????

One of few instances where the series adaptation is actually much better than the source material - the plot is more complex and the character development is superb, as opposed to the more shallow and static representations of the characters in the novel. That being said, the novel was an interesting, funny, and original read. If I had read it before watching the series, I would have appreciated both more.

Like his other work, this comic has a very indie art style. It will not be for everyone. The art aside, I think the story was decent. It captured the morbidity of life. There were a couple of missteps, but I liked it more than not. The Netflix series takes this template and builds something truly cool out if it. I definitely recommend the show.
