Yeah, we all know I love ridiculous YA novels. This isn't a surprise to anyone. I loved Jennifer E. Smith's last book, "The Statistical Probability of Falling in Love at First Sight". It was swoony and wonderful and fit perfectly into my favorite YA category: "teens falling in love, with complications, in beautiful locations". I've had Smith's latest on my Amazon wish list for months, waiting for it to come out.
Sure, the premise (as I described it to my friend Gina on Twitter earlier today: "Normal girl receives accidental random email from movie star. He comes to shoot a movie in her small town. They fall in love.") is totally ridiculous and unbelievable, but I thought it would be cute. And it is cute, but more so ridiculous and unbelievable. Gina, when I told her about the book, said the reason she liked TPoFiLaFS (that's a mouthful) is because "...the first was *just* real enough for you to wish it could happen to you." There's no reality in TiWHLL.
Am I going to stop reading her books? No. Do I need to take a break from YA for a bit? Maybe. Then again, I say that every time I finish a silly one and here I am still devouring YA books.
Oh, if there's ever a movie, Logan Lerman for Graham!

*3.5 stars
This was really cute - it definitely reminded me of a Disney/ABC Family type of movie (it would make a good one) it was a nice contemporary read. It would be good to read this in the summer! It didn't wow me or anything but I still liked it and want to read more of her work! If you are looking for a cute contemporary read I'd recommend this one!

3.5! a bit unrealistic but still a fun lil summer romance story
I couldn't put this book down it was an adorable fun summer read. Great characters great writing.
Okay. So this isn't the best book ever, but it didn't waste my time.
The story was witty and sweet. And while it was the fairytale feel; no way they happen to randomly meet and fall in love, no way that's the dilemma, etc. It's okay to just go with it and accept the fairytale. Because the characters were like-able, and Jennifer E. Smith was able to show some of their flaws and weaknesses along with what makes the reader care about them as good normal people.
Not much left to say. I wanted an utterly fluffy romantic witty book, and that's what I got so I'm not disappointed. Ellie and Graham were great characters (and I love characters so it's a mandatory aspect.) ...and now I'm realizing that my brain decided to kind of drop out because it's night/morning and I'm actually pretty tired. Night. Ah sleep. And now I have fodder for sweet dreams.
P.S. I do plan to try more Jennifer E. Smith books, so that's a good sign right?
P.P.S. This book is probably 2.5 stars; since part of me wants to gag when I scroll past it on my shelves. Why. I dunno. But I do. So, 2.5...2.7.

Argh reviewing this book is kind of difficult!
After reading the first 40-50 pages I simply couldn't wait to get off work so that I could continue following the journey of Ellie and Graham. But the longer the ride went on the less excited I was. Maybe there was too much far-fetched/silly drama or too stupid secrets to be kept. Maybe if I hadn't loved it so much in the beginning I wouldn't be so disappointed in the end? I don't know. All I know for sure is it wasn't happiness for me.

Genre: first loves, dealing with celebrity status, small town life
Summary: Ellie and Graham accidentally start an email conversation on opposite sides of the country. What started out as a simple accident turns into the possibility of something more. However, Graham is the current hearttrob of the silver screen and because of a long kept secret in Ellie's family background, she has to avoid any and all paparazzi, which of course, proves easier said than done in the small town where Ellie lives and Graham is currently filming his new movie.
Response: Like her other book, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight (try saying that 5 times fast...) this book was a cute love story. Graham and Ellie are some average teens who have to deal with uncommon things, be it a movie career or family secret. They have a very sweet relationship. The only thing that I didn't like about the novel was the lack of resolution at the end. Other than that, it was a lovely way to spend the afternoon.

While it is slightly cheesy I thought it was a really really good book, and really how many YA contemporary/romance books can you name that aren't cheesy? Anyways I loved the story, I loved the characters, I loved that its set in Maine, I loved everything for the most part. Though my favorite parts were the parts where they were emailing each other before they even met I loved it all.
I liked the parts from Graham's POV, I liked the way he felt about acting and how he handled everything and how he tried so hard to met Ellie and everything. And I loved Ellie, obviously because I love everything apparently. The only thing is I wish that Quinn had been in it more and that you knew more about her because it felt like she was overlooked a bit, but I always think that of any sidekick/supporting character type characters.
It's just really good and fun and lighthearted while not completely void of real issues and everything. Obviously I'm have issues with explaining how good this is, so just go buy it already and then you'll understand how I feel.
Overall It's a light, quick, fun, easy read. I highly recommend it especially if your looking for something fun and uplifting that you can get through in one sitting but will stay with you. Be warned though that you might feel the need to rush out and buy every other book by this author.

I'm thrown by how to rate this one. I'll let it sit a bit. Review to come...
I liked the characters, but that's the problem, i "liked" them but I didn't LOVE them how I thought I was going to when I read the sample. I liked Ellie but I didn't LOVE her, she was just "ok" but i did really love Graham. I felt that Olivia was a little bit too cookie-cutter- "stuck up celebrity type" I would have liked if she had more depth. and I felt that this book was dragged out a little bit, but over all I did really like this book. I have read the sample for "the geography of you and me" and I really like it! so let's hope it turns out well.
