Each chapter in this book tells the life stories of women who made a difference in the world, by being exactly who they were and doing exactly what they wanted to do even if that went against what was proper. The women in this book are strong and live their lives by their terms, not by anyone else's.

This book is so fantastic. I love reading about strong women from history. It is so important to know the stories of strong women when they have so long been ignored. This is such a great read, and Bagieu's illustrations go so well with the stories she has told.

Bagieu curates an exhaustive list of notable women, full of diversity and interest. What I loved about this collections was the variety of fields Bagieu chose to showcase. We got to see artists, scientists, monarchs, actresses, activists, and much more.

The style of this book reminded me of [b:Bad Girls: Sirens, Jezebels, Murderesses, Thieves, & Other Female Villains|14992898|Bad Girls Sirens, Jezebels, Murderesses, Thieves, & Other Female Villains|Jane Yolen|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1405866691l/14992898._SX50_.jpg|20647450]. It had a brief summation of the subject's life and a highlight reel of their notable achievements. It was very charming and accessible.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to broaden their historical knowledge.

The illustrations are so gorgeous but the stories seemed exaggerated and bias. In my personal opinion, I would love to read books about each woman, not snippets. Otherwise, I enjoyed most of the stories.

An author’s note tucked away at very end says, “This book is by no means a thorough, scholarly work…I hope these broad-stroke portraits will inspire you to further explore and research these remarkable human lives for yourself.” Through that lens, this book is a triumph.
