FMC (Grace): 3.75 (I wish she’d made more of a stand or held out longer than she did; it was a pretty quick forgiveness tour; maternity clothing designer from YouTube videos…sure)
MMC (Beckett): 3.75 (really unclear why he acted like such an ass and how quickly he switched it up; I liked that he was planning on starting over with her before she asked for a divorce; he did the work but not sure I would have forgiven him)
💕: 3.5 (they’re cute but very average together)
Plot: 3 (this really is The Unwanted Wife v. 0.5 or something - not nearly as angsty or well-developed, but less problematic)
🌶️: 2.5
Writing: 3.25 (honestly some really well-written sentences)

A lesser Unwanted Wife story. It begins well with angst but immediately fizzles out as the male hero kicks into into redemption gear. I want groveling but not that quickly and that smoothly. A fast read because there's absolutely nothing but an obstacle-free line to the finish.

It was very much like [b: The Unwanted Wife|17346553|The Unwanted Wife (Unwanted, #1)|Natasha Anders|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1388271508l/17346553._SY75_.jpg|21842751] but in a shorter version. I didn't like the heroine because I feel like she was not strong enough. I like the other heroine better. The hero was an ass but we got to know about his point of view and he feels guilty for his behavior. He was sweet after he admitted his mistakes. The heroine's father got off easily.
I like the friends (Alim and Charity). I would like to know about Alim's story.
Safety Issue: the hero was manwhore and he was faithful after he meets the heroine. The heroine was a virgin. There is no cheating and OM/OW drama.

This felt very familiar to the [Unwanted Wife] - which is not a bad thing as I am quite fond of the latter. Maybe that made me predisposed to like this book. I think the Unwanted Wife is more angsty mostly because we don't get to see the hero’s POV. As a result, I think I preferred that one over this book.
Still, I had a pleasant time with the book and I liked the hero - which in itself is a win. Can’t say that there was anything particularly innovative in the tropes but they were used well. Worth checking out if you like these kinds of stories.

Yes, I am getting [b:The Unwanted Wife|17346553|The Unwanted Wife (Unwanted, #1)|Natasha Anders|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1388271508l/17346553._SY75_.jpg|21842751] vibes but ... to be honest, that is a good thing for me.
However, I do not want to pay like $6+ for this... I am off to the library...

This was an enjoyable read but pretty much a lesser version of The Unwanted Wife by Natasha Anders because of the underwhelming conflict resolution (not enough groveling to my liking).

quillbot version of the unwanted wife. i was going to dnf when i realized nothing special was going to happen but then I saw that it was already the end. heroine was not a doormat but forgave too easily. grovelling sucked. with that, i felt nothing in my heart for this book.

The writing was good— but sort of fizzled at the end. Same trope as the Unwanted Wife but different enough that it didn’t bother me. It opens with the characters already married for over a year. H Beckett is mad because he thinks h got pregnant on purpose. They were forced to marry by their fathers ultimately for business purposes. Fmc miscarries but h they stay together and he treats her like crap. As the book opens she’s had enough and files for divorce. H realizes he effed up and grovels through the whole book to hea.

I absolutely loved this book. 💓💞💕
Reconciliation of a marriage is one of my favourite genres along with a Hero who behaves badly and has to work for redemption.
Grace and Beck are already married when this book starts and Grace, almost at the beginning decides to stop being a doormat and develops a backbone. Much to Beck's shock.
I really liked that it starts at this point as although I like the Hero seeing the error of his ways troupe, it can be painful to read all the ways he hurts her before he changes.
This is done in retrospect. We start at the point where the Hero realises he may have made mistakes and the heroine has decided she's had enough.
Grace developing a backbone is amazing, she stays strong and really lets him have it.
One of Beck's faults is his arrogance and I loved that though he tries to fix things his arrogance is still there which leads to him making mistakes and I thought the fact he doesn't have a personality transplant was really good.
I found the explanations for their situation and misunderstandings realistic and at times quite heartbreaking.
It is told so you get both POV.
It's well written and an excellent story.
There is the elusion of cheating, there are no intimate scenes with o/w or o/m and no actual cheating though he spends time with other women for business events and the heroine believes he is unfaithful.
