I'm not really a baseball fan. Okay, let's be honest, I don't really know anything about baseball. So, it was really difficult to get into this and some of the baseball lingoes went over my head. I think if I knew more about baseball, I would've been able to get more into the story.
Definitely not my favorite Stephen King short stories. I enjoyed the bonus tale, Morality, more than Blockade Billy. I must admit I was a little taken aback by the plot twist in Blockade. It wasn't at all where I thought the story was going to go. Decent read for Stephen King fans.
Do not, under any circumstances, try to steal home plate!
I like this novella. There is a lot of humour in it. I'm glad I picked this up because I got to learn about "Blockade Billy".
This was one of those in-one-ear-out-the-other stories when I read it in 2010. Honestly, I enjoyed the bonus story "Morality" more than the titular story. But a friend recently listened to and recommended the audiobook, so I gave it a go and I have to say it is the best way to consume this. Craig Wasson does a terrific job and brings a lot to the text. His reading of the last line in particular was a great cap for this non-sport's fan's experience in this story. Overall: an alright tale and an even better audiobook. Give it a shot if you're curious. 3.5/5
El primer relato fue fome a morir, sobre todo si no se es experto en baseball.
El segundo relato, moralidad, fue el mejor de los dos, pero prometÃa mas.

This is really more of a novella than an actual book. And this isn't really traditional King in a lot of ways. The story chronicles the rise and fall of the New Jersey Titans, a baseball team who's best season and best player was wiped off the history books. It's told through the eyes of the old manager of the team, who is in a home, telling the story to Mr. King.
Let me say that if you don't like baseball, this isn't something that you would want to read. A lot of the novella is this old manager describing the games and how Blockade Billy does through the games. By his descriptions from the beginning, we know that something is not quite right with Billy, and boy, do we find it out at the end.
Personally, because I love baseball, I really liked this novella. I loved the descriptions of the games and the language that the old man used. It was easy for me to visualize the players and the games.
I would recommend this novella, but only if you enjoy baseball. I would avoid it if you don't, or if you don't know anything at all about the game. King said he wrote this for fans of the game and his love of the game definitely comes across as well. Anyway, read this. I would give this novella a 3.5 out of 5.
