Mandy is NOTHING like her mother. It is easy to see that Mandy's bright, effervescent, and superhero mom (Starfire) is a fry cry from Mandy's dyed-black hair and solemn outlook. Mostly, Mandy just wants to get by without people from school fan-girling over her mom and without her mom finding out she walked out of her SAT.

I do not have particularly in-depth Starfire knowledge, but this story seemed a little rough around the edges for me. It doesn't have the same tone that many of the other DC graphic novels have had. I thought it was a decent quick-read, but wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is picky about their superhero tales.

So cute and fun! Loved it!

the art + coloring were fantastic, storyline was just okay -- felt a little rushed. i used to watch the teen titans cartoon back in the day, so this was a fun throwback! it's really unfortunate to see all of the review bombing going on here from ~hardcore fans~ though, yikes.

i dont accept skinny peoples opinions on this book im sorry

I thought this had a great chance to be really special. The teenage daughter of Starfire who doesn't have powers or look like Starfire dealing with that and high school sounds really good. Unfortunately it skewed away from that and back into superheroics when it didn't need to. The art was really good for this title but I left feeling disappointed for the missed opportunity.

Quick read about a prickly teen who happens to be the daughter of Starfire.

Listen, I'm not the biggest expert on Teen Titans. Most of my knowledge comes from the genius Teen Titans Go, so...I don't know how this fits in the canon. I'm also getting to an age where I don't care so much what fits in the canon. It's a good little story. Sure, I have some questions about motivation. Maybe the ending get a little rushed? But all in all I think there are a lot of teen girls--and other people in general--who can relate to this story, specifically trouble living up to societal/parental expectations.

I state this perhaps a bit more emphatically than I intended because I made the mistake of reading some of the other reviews before posting. Mercy, some folks need to chill.

What if Teen Titan Starfire had a daughter? And she’s the polar opposite of her gorgeous, alien, superhero mom? Mandy is just a normal earthling; an awkward high schooler tired of living in her famous mom’s shadow. Like SUPER fed up with it. Until one day, she’s not. This is a fun, thoughtful “what if” story with amazing artwork and diverse characters. I guess diehard Starfire fans are not into this take, but whatever, it’s a good story.
