Overall I enjoyed this more than The Handmaids Tale. The writing was smoother. It was easier to get into the story. I felt more connected with the characters, even Aunt Lydia. The ending was a little too neatly tied up. I wanted more about how Gilead ended and why the symposium was started. Particularly at the end of the The Handmaids Tale the symposium notes were more interesting and engaging.

This was a great companion, and I appreciated the stories from both inside and outside Gilead. I did read another review that this  is more of a companion to the show than the first book and I somewhat agree, as I was at times confused if there were connections between Offred, Nicole, Agnes, etc.

infelizmente já sabia de alguns spoilers por conta da série, mas não deixei de ficar surpresa (e revoltada novamente) em várias partes. a margaret atwood sabe como te prender e envolver na história.

I first read The Handmaid‘s Tale in the 90s. It was instantly one of my favorite books. When Hulu started the mini-series a few years ago, I was totally into it. It was such a surprise to me when Atwood decided to write a sequel to the book so many years later. Well, I gobbled it right up. I guess you could say that I’m kind of a Gilead junkie —just can’t get enough of this terrifying world.

I haven't read or watched The Handmaid's Tale. I never wanted to. I've read too much dystopian fiction already. But, I loved The Blind Assassin, I was intrigued by what promised to be a good audio production and everything said that this book could stand on its own, so I decided to go for it.

The audio production was great. The celebrity readers were very good. And, at first, the story held my interest. Then it turned into typical dystopian fiction: corrupt leaders, the oppressed majority, a revolution, an escape, a collapse. I've seen it before, many times and, unfortunately, there was nothing new here.
