loved it!!!!
I absolutely loved Emery and Abe! This was an amazing story and I highly recommend it! If you love tropes such as my best friend’s dad, age gap, effeminate boy, and many more, I highly suggest you read this book. It is so full of steam and love between the two characters. So so good! Loved it so much!!

It was fun enough, although the beginning and ending had me rolling my eyes as speed reading through it. Overall, it's a pretty good book if you don't mind the subject of cheating.
⭐️3.5 rounded up
So…. Mixed feelings.
This book was downloaded on my kindle for MONTHS before I got into the mindset to give it a go. I knew it’d be good, how good I wasn’t sure, mostly because it’s age gap (not a HUGE fan) & cheating - and it did suck me in - or rather, the character of Emery sucked me in. He was such a genuine person, who deserved love and someone to care for him. I’m happy he got it.
That’s said, my main issue with this book is the fact it takes place in a high school setting, which was completely unnecessary. Purely had to be for the ‘wow’ factor, for lack of a better term. That wasn’t the only thing that didn’t serve the plot but instead seemed to be for that - for example, Emery being a cam boy - it made sense because he needed money to escape his home life. But then it disappeared. Nothing came of it and it wasn’t spoken about again really after being made out and built up the first half of the book as if for some big moment that really jusg fized and died… But I digress
back to HS being unnecessary.
The younger MMC, Emery is repeating his sr year. He is 19 years old. Coach could have very well been a coach at a nearby college where Emery was enrolling or something.
College Student / Faculty romance is okay. The youngest they can be generally is still an adult. But romance in a setting where there are literal kids - it will ALWAYS detract for me especially where a *healthy* relationship is meant to be portrayed. It’s an oxymoron, bcuz all I can think of is it is never okay for a HS teacher to have that mindset while at work. ITS INESCAPABLE IN MY MIND.
So…. How did I rate this positively then?
Simply by completely ignoring it. Yes. I very much pretended a large piece of this books plot dead ass did not exist. Once I did that I was able to properly root for MMC Emery, cuz boy deserves it.
If you can put that out of your mind like me, you might be able to enjoy this read too. Overall it was a look at how “cheating” has a million shades of gray, always wrong and ends up hurting someone, and served as a hood palate cleanser between heavier reads (not that this didn’t include heavier content… bcuz it absolutely did)

Thank you to GRR for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
When Gianni Holmes announced this book I was throwing my money in the air. And this book. Guh. It's been a while since an MM book had me that captivated. Class Act follows Emery - a nineteen year old student - and Abe - the school's gym teacher/football coach. Emery comes from an abusive home and Abe is the father of his best friend Mandy. Abe shows Emery that he is loved and cared for... in more ways than one.
This book does involve cheating (Abe cheats on his wife) but there is no cheating between the MCs. Because of that, and knowing Emery gets abused (physically - his father hits him - there is NO SA in this book), I was expecting it to be a lot angstier. But it wasn't. This was relatively low angst. Despite it being a longer book, it didn't feel that way, which is always the sign of a great story and a good author.
Emery and Abe were adorable together and the epilogue was just perfection. I couldn't stop smiling.
If you have this on your TBR, be sure to buy it and read it! It's definitely worth it!

ETA: This book is a cheap knockoff from CP Harris's The Boy Who Loved Wicked.
Wow this was terrible.
Sloppy writing, unbelievable connection between the MCs, sappy and not in a good way.
Emmery was annoying and Abe was a creep

This book is definitely not for everyone. It was a very exhausting read for me. Even though I don't have too much of a problem with the subject of cheating, it is the dominant theme and not something you can just overlook. I completely sympathize with the characters and why it all happens the way it does. However, the people involved are rightly hurt and that gives the whole book a very negative context. Which is not to say that the book was negative for me. Because quite honestly this bitch of a wife didn't deserve it any other way. God how I hated this woman ... And the fear that a huge disaster was about to happen was constantly there. My little heart hurt all the time and I had to read so fast to make sure that everything would be okay, that I could not really enjoy the book. So for me, a re-read is imminent, to let the whole thing calmly take effect again on me.
Because it is despite the severity of the plot a masterpiece.
Emery is an incredible character, the things he has had to suffer and how despite everything he doesn't give up and fights and how he finds the perfect person in Abe who finally gives him safety.
