Disappointed I allocated time in my time-box schedule for this one.

Key points:
1. Plan your time.
2. Use as many proprietary apps as possible to prevent needing will power.
3. Repeat.

Nothing new - surfing the urge, time blocking, and the reason behind why we get distracted.

Many open doors and 99% of the book focusses on digital distractions, such as a smartphone.

Great info. Easy tools to apply.

A useful set of suggestions for removing distractions from your life. None of these are particularly radical, but together they might make you feel inspired to ... stop updating Goodreads and go back to work.

1.5/5

Nothing special, wouldn't recommend.

Main takeaways:
- Minimise external triggers: reduce work interruptions (design your space efficiently, check your emails 2-3 times a day) and group chats (stay shortly, schedule short meetings with a selected few instead, make sure every conversation is useful)
- Understand your internal triggers
- Reimagine your temperament: our temperament has a big impact on our ability to be distracted & our behaviour is directly affected by our temperament > by adjusting our temperament (e.g., increasing positive self-talk), our behaviour will improve

It's an engaging read with short, approachable chapters and not a ton of superfluous explanation--one doesn't get that feeling of "padding" that so many nonfiction books have. I'm not sure if I will implement many of the very detailed suggestions, but it has a lot of good information about why we feel distracted (we can't totally blame technology, but app makers do have special tricks) and how to fight against it and make time for the work we really want to be doing--and to help our kids do the same.

The audio of the audiobook needs editing, tons of glitches and random changing of volume. The book itself was fine content-wise but felt a bit too stale.
