I enjoyed this book: good world building, strong characters and great writing. I look forward to the rest of this series! It is part detective story and totally urban fantasy.

I really like this book. The characters are likable and unique. I'm looking forward to the next book where Toby is more established in her life.

2.5 stars, and I'm so disappointed, I can't even express myself. I do like my Mira Grant books, of course they have their faults too, but this. This book is so boring, so cliche, I would have told you that this book has nothing to do with a Mira Grant novel. Toby was such a cliche and boring character, she needed to be saved every time something happened, she had no clue about anything, she did a terrible job as a PI, but somehow every man wanted her, and everybody missed her, and treated her like a hero. For me, she was the most irritating character I've ever read about from Seanan/Mira, so I have no clue if I'll continue this series or not.

More like 2.5 Stars. I didn't really dislike it, but lots of things about it bugged me. Everything from having a pronunciation guide for the Gaelic, but no translation of the meaning, to the passive, wishy-washy protagonist, who was a bit of a turn-off. There was a lot that distracted me or pulled me out of the story, and I don't feel like the fae aspects of the book were integrated well into the urban aspects...compared to a series like the Dresden Files. Most of Toby's actions were completely un-relatable. In short, it didn't make me want to pick up any of the sequels, but it also didn't make me toss the book across the room either. In fact, it was pretty "meh," all around. No laughter, lust, anger, fear, or even suspense.

I found this book to be a quick read.

It strongly reminded me of Emma Bull's "War for the Oaks" universe, where fae creatures are rubbing elbows with today's world, and Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson Series, where the main protagonist is a no-nonsense slightly gritty female. Since I enjoyed both of these novels, the book was a pleasant read. I am definitely going to put more of the series in my "to read" list.

While I found it easy, I would classify this book as more of a "page turner" than a "beach book". Why the difference? I actually cared about what was going on in the plot line, and I found it hard to put down. 346 pages.

So far, I think I like the Velveteen and InCryptid stories better... but this was still an excellent book that took less than a week for me to read through.
Toby is an interesting character that I want to read more about and I'm a sucker for urban fantasy, so I will be reading more of this series.
