A really wonderful, atmospheric book that I did not want to put down. That being said, the ending fell a little flat to me.
FQ: “Just girls. Just clever, bright young women. Too clever and bright for their time.
And they were killed for it.” ~pg41

Everything I'd previously heard about this book sounded deliciously eerie and atmospheric. A blend of dark academia and gothic horror, with witchcraft, ghosts, and a sapphic love story? Be still, my heart – I'll put on the kettle and grab my reading blanket. What followed were a few days of engrossed reading, enjoying every page. Is it a perfect book? Maybe not, but it ticks all the boxes for a delightful reading experience.
A year after her girlfriend's death, Felicity Morgan returns to Dalloway, a prestigious school in the Catskill Mountains. She is determined to leave it all behind: her grief, her guilt, her fateful obsession with the occult. But she is drawn back in when Ellis, a new student who is also a prodigy writer, enlists her help to research the »Dalloway Five« – former students, rumored to be witches, who died under mysterious circumstances. Are they still haunting the campus grounds? Only one way to find out, and said way involves herbs, tarot cards and an Ouija board.
With a well-crafted narrative and plenty of twists and turns, the story keeps readers engaged, blurring the line between occult presence and hysteria. It's a subtle, slow-burning suspense that is rooted in atmosphere and a sinister academia setting, with hints of paranoia. Can Felicity trust Ellis? Come to think of it – can WE trust Felicity? Hidden motives galore!
Overall, the story is cohesive and logically sound, held together by finely tuned details and a lush, immersive writing style. As we near its conclusion, however, some passages feel a bit rushed – but the creative way the novel weaves genres and elements together does a lot to make up for minor issues.
As is typical for the »dark academia« genre, the book is populated by pretentious students who drink too much and exhibit a certain penchant for viciousness. Consequently, Felicity and Ellis are not always likable, nor are they reliable narrators. Still, they are compelling, fascinating like beautiful feral creatures.
All in all, I really enjoyed this novel.

This book confused me so bad I wanted to finish it. Sadly, that didn't clear much up.
