Pretty writing. Horrible pace. Unlikable characters. Almost no plot. Pretentious, rich white girls getting away with murder, so not super relatable or surprising or interesting.

3.5 ish

I haven't read horror much before because I get scared easily. I may be a convert now. Came for the sapphics, stayed for SO MUCH MORE!

* I learned about psychotic depression from this book. The portrayal of it was both informative and a compelling part of the plot.
* Compelling complex villains.
* Love the winky wink meta comments about the study of history & literature. I wish the author leaned into this even more. For instance, it was really interesting that Leonie knew stuff about Dalloway that the narrator didn't. It would've been great to play more with competing narratives and also how they influence other characters beyond the two main ones.
* The dark academia setting felt really well-done to me. This spooky little slanted house was a fun setting.

I have never read a book with such an unreliable narrator. It made it so fun to read. I never knew if what I was reading was actually happening, I never could trust what was going on. Definitely dark academia at its finest.

I don't even know what to say about this book. It had possible hauntings, lesbian relationships, a boarding school with a creepy past, and an unreliable narrator. I'm still processing the ending, but for a rainy night read, it was marvelous.

all i can say is PHEWWWW what a ride.

grateful for psychopathic murder lesbian stories!!!!! it's not cute and fluffy and i love it!!!!!!

This was a quite good spooky novel about queer girls at a all-girls fancy arts boarding school, who also are researching mysterious past deaths of rumored witches that had attended school there centuries prior. Toys with whether or not supernatural spookiness is happening or did in the past, as well as a somewhat unreliable narrator.

i wanted to like this so badly!!!

I was so excited for this! It felt like such a long period of build up for the story to feel rushed in that last 15% of the story. Would have loved more character development!

3.5 ***

dark academia lesbians writing a murder mystery it had everything to be so good and it was for the most paet. i didnt like how there was just this token black character and all she rlly brought to the story was a story abt oppression and the non binary sibling ?? who had no like impact on the plot at all i mean im all for rep but when its just there and serves no purpose to the plot at all i was a little hmmm. so half a star down cos of it and also the pacing was a little funny like it went slow and then too fast and then slow and boring again but when it was good it was GOOD. i went into this book knowing nothing and i think thats the best way to do it. oh to have a crazy gf who dedicates her perfect murder to you
