I really struggle with my rating. Whilst the overall writing was good enough for 4 stars the hero was so totally unlikable I just could not 'get into' the book.

Connor is entitled, nasty, arrogant and selfish. I found it totally unbelievable that he was an ex Navy Seal. For me that was an unnecessary and pointless addition to the book. This guy only thought about himself - he would never have survived the training or being in the Seal's if he wasn't a total team player. Was I seriously meant to accept that a man who had done several tours of duty (and as a seal these would have involved fighting and death) would (a) get engaged so his dad would give him a job, and (b) stick with said job when it became clear he was just the company poster boy. Connor's unpleasant father was NOT an excuse or reason for his nastiness.

Whilst I liked Sam and she wasn't cowed by Mr Unpleasant why did she bother? I would have respected her more if her motivation that kept her going was needing the money. Connor may have been sexy as hell but once you spent time with him he became less and less attractive so I don't understand Sam falling for him.

The author did an excellent job of writing such an unappealing hero and I can only assume this was deliberate. Both characters were consistent in their personality and actions, the actual story flowed well and was easy to read, the plot (Connor aside) was good, as was the pace. If the hero had ANY redeeming features I would have really enjoyed this book.

This was a pretty good read. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars would be Connor. It took him way too long to not be a complete jerk. I get that Connor had a crappy family, but that doesn't mean that he couldn't have learned from that and tried to be better. Sam was a good leading woman, she didn't let Connor walk all over her, which was nice. The ending was okay, but I would have liked a longer HEA. Overall it was a good read.

Absolutely loved Connor and Sam. This book had me crying at times, laughing at times and wanting to throw my kindle at other times. So very well written with amazing character chemistry between Sam and Connor. Connor is something that is hard on the outside but once you get pasted the hard core he is a sweetheart. I loved seeing the relationship build between Sam and Connor. It might have started out just a little on the strange side but lord did it turn out to be something amazing by the end. This book was gripping from the beginning to the end. It was well written that it kept your attention and had you wanting more from Connor and Sam. I highly recommend reading this book. It was indeed enjoyable.

Another good read by Vivian Wood. I went into this book looking forward to meeting the hero and heroine. I was excited when I finally figured out that this is Sam's story. Sam is Ellie's (from His Best Friend's Little Sister) best friend. Sam and Conner meet the same day that Conner finds his fiance in a compromising position with another man. He propositions her to be his fake fiance so that he can keep his inheritance and get the COO job at his father's security firm. I was NOT a fan of Conner at first. I thought he was an a**, especially when it came to how he treated Sam. Yeah, I thought Sam was an idiot for going along with his proposition, but I can understand the temptation. Sam was perfect in her rule and she really wowed everyone. I kind of wish we could have gotten a little bit more of her background. We learned so much about Conner but not a whole lot about who Sam really was. In the end I fell in love with Conner and the idea of Conner and Sam having their HEA. Looking forward to getting their epilogue! I voluntarily read an advanced copy for an honest review.
