My father worked in a meeting packing plant and held a position not far off from Marco’s, he had this job for over 20 years so the visuals were easy for me.

This book was so phenomenally written I would OFTEN forget that the “head” was HUMAN, until Marcos so often reminded me, these are human beings. “Meat without a first and last name” I enjoyed walking through the plant, the world building was wonderful. I felt for Marcos, I related to his story, how hard loss is.

What I should have had a better sense of was his love of family and his wife. I didn’t so much “skip” as I didn’t put stick into the relationship he had with his wife.

When I finished I was alone and audibly said “THATS THE END OF THE BOOK” as my kindle prompted me to rate the book. Wow. What a book. Believe the hype

superb writing. you get dropped into a world that has normalized something so awful and somehow you wish you could experience more. its deeply captivating and incredibly thoughtful, making me feel like i had to sit with it in in silence for a few minutes after reading. this book leaves you hungry (😉) for more.

This book is a challenging read simply because of the emotional journey it takes you on and the gritty reflection upon society. It was so beautifully written and every word carefully selected matters. Bazterrica created a spell binding story that I hope more people read and absorb its impacts. A bold examination upon society, our self destructive nature and the violence we can enact or allow. Yes it is disturbing and yes you will feel uncomfortable but that’s part of the whole story and point . Anyone who is “grossed out” but didn’t value the story is missing to point or in denial of some self reflection.

This was…something. I was curious about the concept of cannibalism and this book destroyed it. I got a little bored towards the end, however, I do think the world building was alright. Won’t be reading again though

I think this was a typical case of a good concept that died on execution. It is disturbing, but only because the subject matter deals with cannibalism, not because of anything else regarding the story or the way it unfolds.

There is some character development, but it all happens during the 8 months between part 1 and part 2 that we don't get to see. Most of part 2 is just dealing with the fallout of the character change of Marcos, and I felt like we were about to reach a climax with his social interactions when the book just ended.
