This book was pretty good. The whole book you are wondering who who the bad guy is, and just when you think you have it figured out, bam, it hits you with a plot twist, and you have no idea what's really going on. Those are my favorite types of books. I was very pleased with the entirety of this book.

Fast paced and keeps you coming up with theories as to what happened. The author definitely toys with the reader a bit, even out right giving us possible realities. Then she leads the reader to another theory that has them thinking “ok this is too obvious but I’m going for it.” And then I’m proven wrong. I like to be kept guessing and finally finding out at the end is the best part!! It’s what keeps me reading.

.

I was kind of disappointed when we found out who the true “bad guy” was. I had hoped for something a little less cliche.

That being said I actually quite enjoyed this book. I liked the back and forth in time frame, and characters POV. That’s one of my favorite ways to read these thriller/suspense type books.

Like always, about the last 20% is my favorite as that’s when the action really picks up.

I wouldn’t hate having a novella to follow up this story! I’m drying to know what happens to a couple characters from here on out.

I obtained this book as part of the Amazon First Reads program. In selecting my books under this program, I’m just looking for a good, quick, read that holds my interest. This one fit that bill. Couldn’t put it down because I had to know why she went missing. Was she taken or did she leave on her own. As I read, I came up with several different thoughts as to what happened, but then would obtain one more piece to the puzzle that would take my thought process in a different direction. I found it a very enjoyable read.

Really enjoyed this book. It was a quick, easy, suspenseful little story and the writing gave off Frieda McFadden vibes. Who’s books I love!
The last few chapters of this book where a bit anti-climactic but I sped through it in less than a day so for that it’s 4 stars.

My Kindle First pick for June! Well written, good pace, interesting characters. Enjoyed reading both Meredith (the months before her disappearance) and Greer's (present day) POV chapters.

I don't often finish a book in nine days (I'm generally a pretty slow reader), but there you go. Kept me turning the pages and wanting to know what happens next. Only nitpick was that I wasn't a big fan of the ending, and I was able to figure out who the perpetrator was before they were revealed.

Otherwise, a great read and I'd definitely check out Ms. Kent's other works!

Trash. Trash. Trash.

I am so glad this was on Kindle Unlimited, so I didn't have to pay for this.

Writing: 2/5 - Plot: 1/5 - Ending: 0/5

The writing here is very simplistic and at times, just flat out bad. That's all I have to say. Choppy, cringy, and so on. I didn't care for a single character as they all fell flat as h*ll for me. Didn't care what whiny Meredith was doing behind her back, didn't care she was kidnapped, her sister Greer was insufferable.

The plot here was full of cliché after cliché and was so cheesy and basic. Wasn't anything new, nor was it a good example of tropes that have been done millions of times before.

The ending ruined all chances of redemption for this book. It was so freaking stupid I nearly threw my kindle. The twist? Be for real. Please. Be for real. THAT WAS THE MOTIVE? Girl.

SPOILERS AHEAD:

You're telling me, Meredith was kidnapped by her dick appointment because he was jealous, and "loved" her more than her husband? Ronan's character was INSUFFERABLE. The fact the author even tried to write it so that Ronan was able to take the case of Meredith missing, and didn't acknowledge that he was having sexual relations with her prior to her disappearance? Please.

PLEASE BE SERIOUS RIGHT NOW. Also, why was the trust fund of 5 million such a big aspect of the plot, when it is never mentioned again at the end? Did she get the money or not?

Someone, please explain why Meredith goes back to Andrew after he abuses her mentally and physically, but by the end, she's jumping on his dick dry? Girl, why didn't you run away?

Rounding this up from 3.5. I haven't been impressed with most of the Kindle First free books I've read so far, but this was a happy exception. I found it well written, fast-paced, and not as predictable as most thrillers I read. Though many of the characters were flawed, they were still human and I found something to like in most of them. An entertaining book.

I received a copy of this book from Thomas Allen & Son in exchange for an honest review.

Even though I tend to come out in the middle somewhere with ratings when it comes to thrillers, I'm never quite able to resist the intrigue and mystery that comes along with them. I want to see what new ways someone has come up with to make someone go missing or to influence an investigation.

As far as thrillers go, this one is pretty middle-of-the-road. It's fun and addictive and you keep reading because you really want to know who was the one who took Meredith. But it doesn't really surprise you or add anything new to the thriller genre either. It's fairly predictable, though a fun journey to get there.

The Good Points of The Thinnest Air:

Greer and everything about her. I love that we had a hard-ass main character who was rock solid, but cared so much about her sister and her partner, but didn't take shit from anyone else. She was such a breath of fresh air and I absolutely adored her.

And all the other characters too. They're all pretty unique and fun to read about, even when you want to punch half of them in the face for being obnoxious.

The pacing throughout this was brilliant. It's set up perfectly so you get to spend just enough time getting to know the characters and the mystery, but is quick enough to keep you hooked until you're turning the last pages.

This book jumps back and forth in time depending on who is narrating that particular book. This is one of those things that can be really annoying as it's hard to keep track, but it worked beautifully in this book and it was very well done. It gives you the whole story, but releases the details as you need them.

The Downsides of The Thinnest Air:

This book doesn't do anything new and it doesn't bring anything unique to the table. Don't get me wrong, it's still a fun mystery, but you don't need to try to hard to figure out who did it and what's going to happen next.

This book tended to go over the same details again and again and again. Maybe that was the way that the characters were, as it did fit there, but it was a little annoying as a reader. I knew about things like Meredith's feelings about her marriage and such, I didn't need to read it five more times.

All in all, this was a fun read, but it wasn't unique enough to really make it stand out amongst all the other thrillers I've read over the years. If you enjoy stories told in different timelines, well thought out characters, and thrillers in general, you should definitely check out The Thinnest Air!
