2.5 “That’s when I prayed, because kissing you was water in a desert, sunlight breaking the horizon, and I was gone for you, no turning back. I’m not a praying man, Gabriella, but I prayed so fucking hard that this wasn’t some horrible joke, that you’d be happy when you realized it was me, that whatever cosmic force gave me the gift of stumbling into your life wasn’t cruel enough to keep me from always belonging to it.”

Reread 12/31 - 1/2: Enjoyed it just as much, the review I already wrote is perfect hahah. Such a lovely book that I would love to see as a movie!

Pretty much perfection as far as I’m concerned! I mean, this was clearly written as Morgan bait: The Hating Game meets You’ve Got Mail mixed with a thoroughly holiday setting and a dash of hockey!!! Like!!! The chemistry between Gabriella and Jonathan was SO good, and I loved Gabriella in general, and her passion for the bookstore. This novella was honestly the perfect length- if it was a full length book I imagine there would have been more misunderstandings so I’m glad everything developed as it did. So many great You’ve Got Mail parallels! And Jonathan uses one of my very favorite P&P quotes. Swoon. I also appreciated the on page representation- Gabriella is autistic and demisexual, and Jonathan has Type 1 diabetes (including an insulin pump!). This whole story just made me so happy and giddy, I smiled the entire time I was reading. It’s also very sexy! Great chemistry. Can’t wait to read it again :)

*I should add this is a Kobo exclusive but I literally downloaded the app just so I could buy and read this. Totally worth it.

Ah, this novella written by Chloe Liese has my heart in SO MANY WAYS! A slow burn holiday romance that has all the chemistry, slowly festering away, then boom! Steamy scenes that will satisfy all the romance lovers out there.

If you loved The Hating Game, You’ve Got Mail (but like the male lead doesn’t gaslight), independent bookstores, and Christmas, you will fucking love this novella. There’s even a reference to the handle-clenching-at-the-carriage scene from Pride and Prejudice. Hand-clenching!!!!! I will now be reading all of Chloe Liese’s books, thank you.

Such a lovely, little book, feel good enemies to romance with lots of holiday specialness. I also appreciated the neurodivergent and diabetic (small) storyline.

Nope. The description said it’s for fans of “The Hating Game” and “You’ve Got Mail.” It didn’t say it copied the plots and even lifted lines directly from the two. I’ve liked her other books but this was a big ol’ miss.

Gabriella and Johnthan. ❤️
Perfect lil holiday read. 📚🎄☕️ ❄️ 🏒

I think my sister will love this one—a demisexual FMC!
