Aha, finally (mostly, probably) wrapping up a villain we've been chasing for 6 books. Whew!
The metaphysical stuff was once again... weird. Lesley May, as a character, seems to get more and more cryptic.
Personally, I'm hoping for a short story or novella featuring Molly and Foxglove.

A great listen with a fantastic ending! However, the style of delivery has changed on the authors part, and it took me the first third of the book to gel with it. There’s a lot of dramatic irony leveraged to increase tension and drama, but it fell somewhat flat. Ultimately, it left the narrative feeling disjointed and overly complicated compared to earlier entries in the series.
Also, there’s a lot of references to ancillary material, such as the graphic novels and short stories, that felt wedged in with a winking, ‘aren’t I smart’, air that rubbed me the wrong way and took me out of the story.

An excellent denouement for the overarching plot so far.

Honestly, a bit surprised this wasn't the last book in the series.

Wonderful story with great new elements. Not as much Nightingale as I like but some good interwoven folklore as usual.

Please listen to this series on audiobook. Seriously, I've said this before, but please take my advice! I swear Kobna Holdbrook-Smith gets better with every audiobook, and he was already incredible to begin with. I was really happy to see that Aaronovitch, who takes care to make his characters diverse anyway, seemed to take extra care in this book. He has several female characters in leadership roles and writes women well with a strong voice, I think. Overall, everyone just feels so real to me. I know that's partly the masterful voice acting, but there's a sincerity to Aaronovitch's writing that makes me think I might one day wake up and be able to create light in my hands or throw fire.
