I really enjoyed this one.
There was plenty of chemistry between Rain and Daniel. The case was interesting and Rains special gift was very well done. I would certainly like to see more cases with these two.
if I had one niggle it was the focus on sex, not in deed but in Rains thoughts.

A little Criminal Minds with Ghost-whisperer. I like a good who-done it with some supernatural added to the mix. I liked the relationship between the two main characters and their relationships with the rest of the character. Overall, a good read.
Re-read.
As great as the first time. Great narration!
How did I overlook this series ? I love the subtle supernatural theme of this book, despite the premise being based on the fact that Rain can see ghosts.

So, I am way past kicking myself for not reading this a while ago. This was in the top 40 of my want to read list.... of over 4,000 books.
Yeah, I procrastinate.
I've said it before, but this series is shaping up to be what Alice Winters' Medium Trouble could have been if it took itself more seriously. Well, as seriously as one can when one character is seeing ghosts. Sure, Rain said some wacky stuff, but he fully understood that humor couldn't get him out of a sticky situation that he put himself in on a top from his ghostly pals. Unlike Hiro from The MT series. Part of that could have to do with the fact that Rain is in law enforcement and Hiro isn't.
One gripe I have with this book is that there's a part where Rain is interviewing a perp and Danny and his team look at him all serious, like he's grown another head. For the life of me, I don't know what he said to warrant that reaction. I know that it's suppose to be where he shows that he knows things he shouldn't know, but I swear everything he said were things the team already knew. So why the reaction? If anyone's read this and can point out what I've missed, help a sis out and I'll love you, for, like 3 weeks?

Immediately onto the next book!

Honestly this was like the perfect recipe but for some reason it didn’t all click for me. It wasn’t as spooky as I was hoping and sometimes the writing style confused me on who was speaking and how we got from point A to point B. I’ll still be continuing the series, though and I’m excited for book 2.

I knew exactly what I was getting myself into after seing: a main character named Rain (full name: Rainstorm; with twin sister named Sky), his description being presented to me as studying his own reflection, eyes referred to as "orbs" within first few pages.
And I still was disappointed.
Truth be told, the scenes that were good worked really well, but in the end this book fails at all fronts for me:
1) as a ghost story--look, I enjoy a reluctant medium for whom ghosts are more nuisance than help. And I actually liked the setup of the only non-hippie in the family being the one who is not just aware of spiritual presence but can comunicate with them. What's missing for me is the constant awareness that everyone around could actually be dead, even briefly wondering if the absence of a ghost means the girl is still alive, or actually using the information those who appear can provide. I mean situations like: the first ghost Rain encounters after getting into the general area of a crime was a murder victim. At this point nothing was off the table, including a serial killer passing through the area. Yet he dismisses her without even thinking twice;
2) as a second chance romance of a man who has chosen his career over relationship and now has an opportunity to rethink his priorities--connected to the previous point; a career oriented FBI agend would have thought of using ghosts as a source of information (direct or indirect) way earlier and more often, even after almost getting fired for the one time he did. And that's not even touching extremely unprofessional way he approaches each and every part of his job;
3) as a crime story--first and foremost, the timeline doesn't make sense. If it hadn't been published in 2017, I would have thought I'm reading a second draft at best. The missing girl was gone for five (5) years. But wait, her youngest brother is four (4) years old and she was mentioned having three brothers to babysit before going missing? But then her friends are mentioned all grown up, having jobs and kids; but then her ex-boyfriend is referred to as "kid". And so on, and so forth, including the worst of all: five years ago Rain would have been still living and working there, whether his relationship lasted three years and ended four years ago or the other way around (that also changed at least once). The missing girl was also his mother's student, so he would have at least heard of the case even if it had been closed quickly back then and only reopened with full resources now. So it would have made more sense if the disappearance happened somewhere within last three years. But officially it's still five years, whenever the author remembers.
Then there is every single scene of questioning any witness at all, that boils down to antagonizing said witness, never using any actual psychology, not even really playing good/bad cop. All that makes me surprisingly side with Rain's parents: what's the point of getting a PhD at all if he's going to utilise maybe a small fraction of what he's learnt?
All in all: I went in for some mindless fun, left with mindless but no fun.
And I still was disappointed.

The afterword of this book indicates it was originally a stand alone, that developed into a series, but I think I am going to keep it to the original intention.
I liked it well enough, don't get me wrong, I gave it 4 stars and I stand with that. 360 degrees being confused with 180 notwithstanding, but the 1st person POV and lack of dual point of view is not my preferred space and I feel like there's a bit of an unevenness on the tone specially from Danny, which makes the end of the book a bit unsatisfying. It's like Rain sort of kinda quits his job, and then comes back and Danny's reaction is *shrug* let's keep boinging then.
Also, the time line does not entirely work for me either, I love the idea of a medium involved in cold cases, yes please. But I either missed it, or it is not clear why this case is being reopened after 5 years, with 5 (!) agents assigned to it. What is the new info? And if Rain is so against going home, why chose this case from the pile offered?
Anyhoo, I did enjoy it, I'm just quitting while the going is good.

Rain and Danny's banter flowed so smoothly; it was absolutely hilarious.
