I don't have words for the thoughts and feelings I have whirring after reading this book today. I really want to read some of Bonhoeffer's writings now.

Very good story written for middle grade readers that lays out the timeline simply but descriptively and gives another perspective on this era in history.

Brief Hoopla audiobook.
I wish the book had stretched out and gone deeper into this topic. McCormick is a renowned author, I feel she was interested in this topic and wrote a book for a graded 4-6 audience not as aware of WWII’s Holocaust. Wished there were more sidebars or even other half going into other plots to take down Hitler.

Fine biography about a relatively unknown man, has a lot to say about ethics and what it means to be a hero. See full review at: http://byucbmr.com/

This book tells the life story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a man who was part of the plan to assassinate Hitler. It talks about the experiences in his life that led to his career and his political involvement. It also includes a brief history of World War II and why it happened.

I had never even heard of Bonhoeffer before I read this book, but I'm grateful to know about him now. He was a Christian leader who refused to shy away from the hard subjects. This book is very informative and fast-paced enough to keep the reader's interest. This is the second book I have read by the author and so far, she hasn't disappointed me.

The true story of a young pastor, Bonhoeffer, who struggles with moral questions about whether it's better to kill Hitler despite being a pacifist and a man of God or to let him live and avoid the sin of murder.
A quick read! The moral questions were compelling. I'm firmly of the belief that evil people must die sometimes and that God won't judge someone for righteously stopping an evil person, but watching Bonhoeffer tackle this in real life and have to defend his choices was really cool. Very inspiring.
Can't say I absolutely fell in love with it, but I had no reason to dislike it at all!

Just a taste of what occurred. A decent starter book for someone who had never knew about this specific story.

A solid, brief biography on Bonhoeffer. She captures the life and thought of Dietrich very well. My biggest complaint is simply the title of the book. The plot to kill Hitler was the reason for his dying but not the center of his living. She accurately gives greater attention to his writing, teaching, pastoring, and life outside of WWII and Nazi Germany, but Injusy don’t see why she solely focused on this part of his story for the title. Probably trying to click-bait.

Great for infrequent readers interested in Bonhoeffer or even teens.

I believe that this was a surprisingly good book. I didn’t have much hope for it going in but I actually loved it. Very sad at the end though.

Required Reading: The Plot To Kill Hitler by Patricia McCormick

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a young man who wanted to nothing more than a simple life of a pastor. He loved discussing the Bible, helping others and teaching the youth. He wanted to share the love of God. There was only one problem; Bonhoeffer was living during the rise of the Nazi party. Now he must struggle with his conscious. Does he remain a man dedicated to the Church, or does he speak out against what he knows is right, even if it means going against his peaceful beliefs?
This was such an interesting story. I had never heard of this man before. He lived such an incredible life in such a short period of time. It does move pretty quickly, which is good and bad. It doesn’t go into great detail but it keeps you interested. Very clean as far as language. Obviously it’s during the rise of Hitler so there is some scary parts of history, but never into great detail. Mostly it just talks of Bonhoeffer doing what he thought was right. Great book that I would recommend to anyone interested in WWII or biographies.
