With Foreplayer, Kate Meader has produced a fun, sweet and heartwarming story that had me smiling like a loon from start to finish!
➵ Heroine: Mia Wallace, Vadim Petrov’s younger sister, is a hockey marvel and knows it. She has plans to get into the WNHL by securing a spot in the women’s Olympic team and landing the man of her dreams: an older, sophisticated man who’d have her back and is definitely NOT a hockey player. Even though she has trust issues, she’s a fearless fighter and a strong survivor.
➵ Hero: Callum Patrick Foreman, newest acquisition of the Chicago Rebels and Vadim Petrov’s old friend, is a commitment phone. However, all his ex-girlfriends have nothing but nice things to say about him. So even though his recent breakup is plastered online portraying him as the bad guy, he doesn’t blame the possible culprits and rather moves on to concentrate on his hockey career.
➵ Plot: When Vadim asks Cal to help Mia train for her upcoming trials, Cal uses it as a way to get ready for the season. Little does he know that Mia wants more than his hockey expertise, she wants tips on how to seduce another man. As the spend time together, their relationship transforms from that of hockey acquaintances, to friends, to more.
Even though Cal knows he’s just a placeholder, and his best friend wouldn’t approve of his relationship with Mia, he’s longs to become the man Mia deserves, but can he convince her?
➵ Feels: The reason for Cal’s reluctance to commit and Mia wanting to avoid hockey players involves more serious topics that gave their story even more emotional depth.
Beyond that, Foreplayer is oozing with all the best warm fuzzy feelings, from sweet and caring moments between two people who understand each other deeply, to fun ones where Back To The Future pop culture is required, to super sexy ones where Cal and Mia will most definitely heat up your eReaders!
Mia and Cal where perfect for each other even if they didn’t know it. Their banter was hooking, full of fun flintiness that made my heart flip.
➵ Facts: Foreplayer is book #4 of the Rookie Rebels series by Kate Meader. It is told from both points of view with a happy ending. Sub-Genres: Sports | Hockey | Best friend’s younger sister |
➵ Overall rating: 5

I do love this series and this book was a great addition. Cal and Mia had me hooked. This book has a lot of heart. The characters pull you right in. You will recognize Mia's brother from the original Rebels series. That's a reason I love reading books in a series because you get to see previous characters in their HEAs. Mia's past is going to hit you right in the heart and to be angry on her behalf. It also shows the gumption she has to get back to where she should. Plus the drive she has. That's where Cal comes in. He's going to help her train while he gets back into game shape himself. Cal gives off a persona that gives people preconceived notions of him. The more time Mia spends with Cal she sees the true guy and starts to question her ultimate goal of who she should be with. There are a few characters in this one I hope to see get a visit from karma. The biggest one did and it was beautiful justice. Getting teasers of Reid I'm looking forward to his book. I can't wait tot get into his head. I would recommend this one. It gives you a well rounded book with characters that just draw you right into the story.

An enjoyable sports romance with appealing characters. Mia and Cal are both hockey players. He is a pro on the same team as her half-brother, For REASONS (no spoliers!) Mia is not playing professionally, but vying to get onto the Olympic team and to a professional gig thereafter. He helps her train, they become friends, and then more. There is a little too much failure to communicate for me. That is problematic and inconsistent with the story because they have a trusting friend relationship already and that trust is so strong they tell each other things they tell no one else - why would that end with discussion of liking or loving one another? Still, it was fun and I do like a good friends-to-lovers story.

I really enjoyed this. Well built plot and characters. It actually had a story line without plot holes. I loved the play on names. Thoroughly enjoyed

I'm loving this series!! This was so darn cute!! Cal is shocked Mia's not interested but he's definitely down for some teaching some lessons in seduction.
