The plot line of this one was a bit slower than the first one — everything doesn’t begin to unravel until 95% of the way through. I also wasn’t a fan of how this one was (slightly) more graphic than the previous novel in the descriptions; one of the things I really liked about the previous book was how minimal they kept the graphic bits. This one isn’t terrible, but it is worse and I wasn’t a fan of that particular writing style change.

I listened to the audiobook, but apparently the physical copy has staged photos that would’ve likely added to the experience.

All in all, a bit dry, and I doubt I’ll read the third book, but maybe someone who 5-stared the first novel (I’d given it 4 stars) will like this more than I did.

I liked this sequel even though it isn’t what I thought it was going to be. I thought the book would explain why The Boogeyman became The Boogeyman, but it went a different way and has most certainly turned into a trilogy. I look forward to the next book!

Received an Advance Readers Copy and appreciated it!

Not what I was expecting. Still glad I read it.

At times it felt like the stories I wrote as a teen--impossible situations starring me and my friends--but I was invested. I enjoyed the way it explored some of the content creator side of the true crime culture, as indicated by the title. Overall, I think both the real and the fictional Richard Chizmar only wrote this story as an excuse to publish parts of his memoir, but I don't mind.
