Totally creepy! Joe writes just as well as his father-Stephen KIng
4.5 stars! What a creepy read! It took me a little bit to get into the book, but then it was just one wild ride. Joe Hill has definitely inherited the writing gene from his dad, Stephen King. Good characterization, descriptive, and a bit long at the end, but still quite enjoyable. Now, I can’t wait to see how the book is turned into a TV show.

First ‘real’ horror for me and yea…I was (and still am) scared lol. That being said I think the themes of family and internal struggle struck deep for me. Hated the ending though and MAYBEEE it went on for a wee bit longer than I would have liked. Otherwise great read and can’t wait to dive into more read by Kate Mulgrew!

Oh boy, this was really fun. A terrifying villain who believes he's doing good things for children vs a woman who never got to finish her childhood completely.
Moves very fast and is extremely well written.

Very slow and didn’t keep my attention. I was 2 hours into the audiobook. The narrator was fine, but the story was not captivating enough.

A horror story? Yes, definitely, but - and this may seem like a weird thing to say - NOS4A2 is also a story about the strength of love. I was horrified as much as my heart was warmed. While the book is a slow burn, you are thrown into the action pretty immediately, and it’s worth every minute of the read. Excellent writing, well-paced, had me hooked from the start. I listened to the audiobook, performed by Kate Mulgrew, and her read was *chef’s kiss* impeccable.
Graphic: Alcoholism, Drug abuse, Drug use, Violence, Kidnapping, Alcohol
Moderate: Rape, Sexual assault
2.5 stars: not a bad novel, but I was expecting a story called NOS4A2 to be a more traditional vampire story with a modern twist, like [b:The Lesser Dead|20893407|The Lesser Dead|Christopher Buehlman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1396375462l/20893407._SY75_.jpg|40236397] or Joe Hill's dad's great novel [b:’Salem’s Lot|11590|’Salem’s Lot|Stephen King|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1327891565l/11590._SY75_.jpg|3048937]. Also, all of the constant plot twists in the story seemed a bit contrived after awhile, and seemed meant to drag out the story too long. I had the audio book, which is good because I could listen while driving and hiking -- if I had gotten the print version, I don't think I would have finished it.
