This was a really quick and easy book to get through. However, I felt like this book was just okay. I really enjoyed flashing back throughout the years to the different New Year’s Eve and New Years Days that took place, but I wish it was incorporated more within the romance story. The connections that Minnie and Quinn had over the years was never talked about until the end and I think it could have added more depth to the story.

Pretty light and predictable read, but it's a nice mental break from some of the more stressful things I've been reading lately.

I really liked this book. At times the self-sabotage was a little too much for me, but overall, I liked both Quinn and Minnie. I liked the way the book was written with multiple points of view and also multiple timelines. Overall, a sweet story about New Year's and unexpected timing and making the most of what happens to you.
An adorable story about two intertwining lives and the challenges (and successes) two folks face on their journeys to each other.
I particularly love that Minnie had something in her life besides a man. Her struggles in moving home, losing her business, then hauling ass to get that business up and running again were so raw and well-written. She was, by far, my favorite character.
Quinn, though he had his moments, was still a touch too… bro-y for me. His growth towards the end of the novel seemed a touch rushed.
Overall, an excellent read/listen!

As I was reading this, I kept hearing Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock in my head yelling “BORED” at an increasingly loud volume, and I hate myself for that.
But also this was hella boring.

This book is about two people who were both born on January 1st in the same hospital and they meet when they are turning 30. This is a major slow burn. We go back in time several times and find out they were together lots of times but did not know each other then. So that was kind of fun. Seeing how they crossed paths throughout the years without knowing it. Minnie was supposed to be named Quinn, but the other mom in the hospital stole her name and named her son Quinn, so Minnie's mom didn't feel right naming her daughter Quinn any more. So there is a whole thing about how Quinn stole her name when they meet. I thought it was cute and was wondering if they were actually going to end up together or not since it takes the whole book, but I did enjoy it. I like books where both characters have things they need to work on. Also there are recipes in the back.
"I don't think the scale of other people's problems makes your own any easier to live with."
"I'd like us to be friends. I need more laughter in my life."
"Baking was like a holiday for her head from all the bad stuff."
"Life is change-if nothing's changing, you aren't living."
"Leila used to say that you got the relationship you thought you were worth. If you thought you were only worth part of someone's attention, perhaps that was all you looked for."

It’s 1989 and there’s a huge monetary prize for the first baby born in 1990. Minnie was born unlucky, as her mom often says. Not only was she born one minute too late to claim the prize money, the woman her mom helped through labor (while also in labor) won AND stole Minnie’s to be name -Quinn. “This wouldn’t happen to a Quinn Cooper”
Was this a bit trope-y and full of cliches? Yes. But it wasn’t too cringy.
I liked the flow throughout the year and how much all of the characters grew. While the change in both mothers was a little dramatic Quinn and Minnie’s transformation seemed evenly paced.
Gregory was a snide asshole and that storyline tied up a little too nicely for me. Some people are amicable with their exes, but I have yet to meet these people.
Leila was cool but I honestly don’t know how she planned an entire wedding in a few months. Their fight at their shop was completely out of character for Leila though.
What I really liked is how Minnie and Quinn’s lives seemed to be intertwined. In the flashbacks they always seem to just miss each other. I can’t confirm but I feel like “fangirl90” that Quinn was chatting with online was Minnie. I loved how Leila referee to them as love twins.
This was a cute quick read if that’s what you’re looking for.
