My first thoughts after finishing this and looking back on it, are that it really did not need to be so long. It was unnecessarily long. While a lot of things did happen in this book, there was an equal amount of filler thrown in. There were also 5 different POVs in this book, and I didn't find them all to be needed, again, it just felt like filler.
I did enjoy this one more than the last as it felt like it had a lot more to it, but overall I didn't enjoy my experience with it. The plot itself was simple, predictable and therefore boring to me. I wasn't excited to see where it was going or what happened to any of the characters and quite frankly, I didn't really care to read about them anymore by the end.

At no point in this series did I feel any kind of chemistry between Serene and Etienne. Well, that's not totally true, maybe in book one when they were starting to get to know one another there was a spark. But that is it. No chemistry, such boring banter, if you can even call it that, and this excessive need to possess one another that went too far in my opinion.
I never felt love. Their romance never felt real to me, so that's probably why I struggled with this one so much.

Now the other 3 female characters that were done so, so wrong.
Nat. She deserved so much better with the men in her life, including her asshat brothers who assume that she's just a fragile woman who can't handle anything. I hate how weakly she was portrayed.
Old Serene. This poor woman was just trying to live her best life until New Serene just comes in and quite literally pushes her out of existence. Seriously what the shit. Why were her POVs even included? I'll never understand.
I FEEL for Scarlett. Etienne used her to move on with his life and proposed to her even though he had zero feelings for her and then just abandoned her when Serene came back. She had EVERY right to be upset. Pretty sure there's a good chance I might reach the same way she did if I was treated that way.

I need more Livingston. This entire series I was just praying for more glimpses of him. He's probably the only character I actually connected with. I'll miss him. No one else.

If you like Outlander (books or show), you will enjoy the Surviving Time series.

As others have echoed, I am sad to see the Serene and Etienne story end! (Although you do get glimpses of them in King of the South, the spin-off book featuring Etienne's twin brother Livingston). I found myself wondering how many different times Serene and Etienne could be challenged by time, and although it was a little exhausting because I just.wanted.them.to.be.together - it was still an enjoyable read and satisfying outcome.

Now we just need an Asa and Natalie spinoff.

To be honest, the first book was the best book out of the trilogy. This book ended without even giving a solid ground. There's so many things left unexplained about how the time travelling system worked. I mean, there are tiny information splashed everywhere, like the characters giving their own conclusions, but no firm explanation as to why they were brought together despite living in different eras. That being said, it was kind of underwhelming that this hadn't given a solid story.

About the romance between Etienne and Serene, I'll be honest and say that that was one heck of a love between the characters. I admire the connection and the love they have for each other. I know this book was all about them, but I can't help but hope for something more. Not out of them, exactly. Their relationship was enough and more. But I do wish there are more Livingston in the story. Hell, he was amnesiac the whole time and I missed the jolly Livingston and his shit-eating grin. And aside from that, I want more of Nat and Asa! I mean, I know they are just the side characters, but I wished the author added more of Nat and Asa and their secret glances with each other. They deserved to have their own story. I think there will be because I've seen the latest book from Calia Read The Belgrave Dynasty series with Livingston and Rainey as the main character in the first book. Hoping that Nat and Asa will have their own.

Overall, this book was not exactly bad. It was just underwhelming and could have been more.

While it wasn't perfect, when I look at this series as a whole? I adore it. It was imaginative, emotional, funny, twisty and addictive. Serene and ร‰tienne's love story is fiery, all consuming & timeless. It was so easy to imagine myself in 1910's Charleston that I wish I could go back in time and be a part of the Lacroix family. I can't wait to start the spin offs because I'm not quite ready to leave this world yet.

Fantastic

Such a great series. It has me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I didnโ€™t wanna stop reading. I cooked dinner and took every break to read.

I thought this one was good but I didnโ€™t enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the first two. I thought the ending was a bit lacking somehow. Although there were some very funny scenes throughout, of ร‰tienne becoming enchanted by different things that I canโ€™t mention without giving away any spoilers. Overall I have really enjoyed this series and I am glad that I gave it a read! I enjoyed the characters and the writing.

I though ร‰tienne was so adorable here, coming to the present time and being interacting with everything modern. I loved how he acted with all these modern technology. And yes, itโ€™s amazing how he loves Serene. How much he was willing to let go in order to stay with her even in the present.

Great bookseries! Still didn't gett the answers to all my questions although still a great ending. You kind of know what is going to happen. I think if you like romance and spic you should read this because the main team through out the books is about that. The time traveling aspects is just a inconvenience and an obstacle for there romance. I fel like I whanted to know more about the time traveling.
