Quicksilver was a fantastic read that kept me hooked from start to finish. The characters were well-developed and compelling, with personalities that felt real and dynamic. The pacing was strong, balancing action, tension, and quieter moments without ever feeling slow. The world-building was immersive—detailed enough to feel rich and lived-in but never overwhelming.
That said, there were moments where I wanted more—certain plot points felt like they could have been expanded on, and some character arcs felt slightly rushed. There were emotional beats and conflicts that had the potential to hit even harder if they had been given just a little more time to develop. While the story was engaging, I occasionally found myself wishing for deeper exploration of relationships or backstory elements that were only briefly touched upon. Still, despite these minor drawbacks, the book delivered an exciting and satisfying experience, leaving me eager for more from this world!

The first half or so, I will admit, was horrible to read and there was a point I wanted to DNF this. However, for some reason I kept going and boy am I glad I did! The last like 250 pages were good! Carrion’s humor helped me trudge through, mixed with everything that started unfolding really drew me in! I loved the last little twist at the end and am excited for book 2 in fall 25!

“For those who live with their nightmares, so that others may have their dreams.”
“She is moonlight. The mist that shrouds the mountains. The bite of electricity in the air before a storm. The smoke that rolls across a battlefield before the killing starts. You have no idea what she is. What she could be. You should call her Majesty.”
“I’ve known for centuries that you were coming. That you were just going to show up one day and change everything.”
“But humans still make promises to each other, even though they can be broken, don’t they? Because they trust the other to honor their word.”
“Yes.”
“Then swear, Little Osha, and I’ll trust you.”
“He was part of me. I sensed that in my bones. If I wanted him to be, he would be the axis around which I revolved. I would be his.
Two counterparts, independent of one another. Already whole, but together stronger than we could ever be apart.”
“I’ll be grateful for every second that I can say that I belong to you, Saeris Fane. Eighty years or eighteen hours. It doesn’t matter to me. It’ll still be the highest honor of my life.”

Fae, vampires, humans, magic, world traveling portals, magic swords, battles, and more. I love a sassy main character who can take care of themselves. She's a survivor, doing whatever to take care of her brother and herself. Including making a deal with a fae and joining a rebel army. I loved it, kingfisher, the magic, onyx, the worlds, and discovering the meaning of Osha. The ending made me want book two now. Unfortunately, it doesn't come out until the fall. Can't wait to read it.
Read out of curiosity. One of those smut over substance books but to each their own.
