I could barely put it down. A voice of encouragement that everyone could use about now.
Look, I am not here to destroy Matt Haig's work or to denigrate the constructive conversations he has initiated (through his books, events and general openness to share his mental health struggles), but I am taking this book independently from his actions. I don't want to rate a book out of pity because I don't think that would be fair.
So I am looking at the book as it, namely a random collection of short notes, full of truisms and combined with cheesy and hallow encouragements (that even he admits are hard to follow) and that kind of one-sentence modern poetry now mushrooming on Instagram ("Love. Only love will save us" - that's it, the entire note!).
This is a book he probably needed more than a lot of his readers (who can still find it useful, nonetheless, I can't deny anyone's experience), but that I felt brought very little value, insight or more in depth psychology-backed advice. Most of the time, he recycled old arguments and sprinkled quotes from others in an attempt to make the book more than it is - which is a repetitive collection of notes that would have been better as a shorter blog post. Thanks, Matt, but you're not the first one who discovered that less screen time, more reading, yoga and breathing helps, so I can't credit you with those findings - they are not revolutionary.

"I'm petrified by where my mind can go, because I know where it has already been."
Musings both beautiful and heartbreaking (in their accuracy) on anxiety and depression. I tore through the whole book in one sitting, and I looking forward to reading more by this author!

Livro esclarecedor e empático para com o ser humano, tendo em conta a sociedade contemporânea e tecnológica. Ótimos conselhos para ansiedade e depressão, no entanto acaba por às vezes se tornar repetitivo.

"Notes on a Nervous Planet" puts into view why were so stressed out than never before in a world that changes to fast to keep up with.
Matt Haig takes us into his notes on how to counteract to the pressure we put on ourselves in a relaxed and thought-provoking journey.
I quite enjoyed this book for it's simplicity in complexity, being easy to follow while at the same time throwing various points of criticism in our current society on me.

Love now. Love right now. If you have someone or something to love, do it this instant. Love fearlessly. Throw love out there selflessly.
