I love this book and re-read it every couple of years. It gives me hope. It grounds me. It reminds me that I’m not alone.

This book has a significant calming effect and offers crucial reminders: We are enough. We are only a mindset change away from happiness. We must accept ourselves unconditionally.

Rarely I come across books which I am able to relate to. This is one of those books. I'm thankful to the author for keeping the chapters short. Also, I didn't treat this book as self-help, it's better than that.

This review is going to be quite similar to my review of Reasons to Stay alive. It's not a terrible book, in fact it had some very interesting topics, though each were short lived. While I completely appreciate what Haig is trying to accomplish, I didn't take too much away from it. I think this book is good for individuals that are new to anxiety and depression. It has some good freshman advice. I've been dealing with anxiety for over a decade at this point so I was in search of something deeper. Haig still interest me and I still contend that he is able to convey better ideas and concepts through his fiction such as The Midnight Library.

I enjoyed Matt Haig's view on the world and some insightful comments on anxiety but this book felt more like a poetry book than the self-help book it advertises itself as. Long lists of a category of things isn't writing... more compiling.
