I did enjoy this and it was a very quick read honestly, finished within a few hours and it has given me a lot to think about when it comes to our consumption of social media and just beauty

A lot to think about

This started out like a frantic laundry list of anxiety-inducing thoughts and scenarios but ended up with some great "hang on the fridge" reminders of how to stop, take a beat and remember the important things.

I started following this author on Twitter after I read his poem ‘the beach’. The Duchess of Sussex used it when she recently edited an issue of Vogue. It’s about women’s bodies from the perspective of the beach. I really liked it and I dislike poetry.

Decided to read this book after seeing all the good reviews and it didn’t disappoint.

It’s a smaller book with short chapters and lots of lists. He talks about the current environment in which we live, how technology is a huge part of our lives and how not to lose yourself in all of it. He uses great examples and it’s all relatable. If you need something to help you be a bit more present or assistance in drowning out all of the noise, this book is for you. He puts it all into perspective.

I liked it fine. Some parts really resonated. I don’t think it’s a must read for everyone, but I enjoyed it enough to finish it.

I really like what and how Matt Haig writes about mental health.
I felt like I could relate to quite a few of his thoughts and ideas.
There are so many amazing quotes from and quoted in this book that I'd like to remember.
The writing style is perfect.
The title and entire theme of this book what I've been (unconsciously) looking for since I first started doubting where humanity is heading.

And yet it somehow wasn't a five star book for me.
Maybe it was some ideas I didn't agree with or the fact that everything seemed a little too neat or all these "think positive, be positive" kinda pieces of advice. Or maybe I've just read too many amazing non-fiction books lately to appreciate this as much as I would have a couple of years ago.

Senang sekali membaca buku-buku Matt Haig di saat ini. Rasanya cocok sekali dan sangat menenangkan, seperti dipeluk dan mengerti, "Nggak papa. Memang begini cara kerja dunia. Nggak ada yang salah sama kamu kok! ☺️"

Aku membaca buku ini setelah Reason to Stay Alive karena Hasyemi menyebutkan buku ini saat Baca & Diskusikan Reason to Stay Alive bersama Alya bulan lalu. Dan, aku setuju, Matt Haig memang sangat berempati atas kondisi orang lain. Tak heran buku-bukunya terasa begitu nyaman di hati

One of my favourite Matt Haig books, not sure why it’s taken me so long to pick it up. It certainly resonates right now. I’ll be passing this on to my friend Liz to read next X

I really enjoyed this. It took me a good third of the book to get used to Matt's slightly disjointed writing style - I don't know really what I expected, but it wasn't that. But once I got used to it, it was like settling into a warm, calm place. I'm surprised at how calm a book about anxiety and how shit the world is made me feel. I didn't feel the pressing need to pick it up, and know what comes next, of a thriller, but I also couldn't quite put it down. It was just enticing. I think I'll probably read it again, if I don't lend it to someone first.
