3.5 stars, I enjoyed it! I wish there was more "drama" as i had expected based on the premise.

Usually it’s pretty hard for me to like a book with somewhat unlikeable characters, but I really liked this read. I wanted their choices and endings to be different, and I often balked at their motivations. But I think this is what made the book special, the free will and human flaws of the Shastri-Persson clan. I don’t think this read is for everyone, but it’s certainly for me

The plot seemed interesting at first, but it fell short for me. I was just completely bored. I didn't care for any of the characters. It also felt like the story was dragged on for too long.

The premise was so promising, but for me it fell a bit short.  The author focused on a wide scope rather than a deep examination, so almost all characters rang hollow and the story lacked real emotional impact.

An enjoyable, relatively lightheaded (despite death being the main subject), easy read. Lots of unlikeable rich people here, which isn't always for me, but it works. Tidy ending but this is definitely a "beach read" type of book. While it appears to tackle serious issues, it glazes over them with some humor, doesn't delve too deep and resolves them without much conflict, giving us some heartwarming family moments. I find the author's decision to set present day in 2044 to be odd, though, but I wonder if that was for the sole purpose to work in Dava's teenage mixtape and have her music choices be very specific to that era. That's the only explanation I can come up with...
