Kesan pertama yg didapat dari buku ini adalah slow pace dan sempat mau dnf saking alur nya lambat hshs. TAPI ""menarik" nya dari The Good Son adalah penulis memakai kata ganti 'aku' sehingga bikin saya feel like committing murder with my own hands !

A gripping read, although I did find myself losing interest a few times given the fact that the pace was quite slow. I found the reveals interesting but not that surprising, I have to say I was expecting the novel to be more gory and violent that it was. Still a solid character study though.
From the very beginning it was clear who actually committed the crime, but this mystery isn’t about who did it but about why? Which I think was amazingly done in this story. Loved it, finished it within a day. Reading the epilogue was nice too: Yu-Jin is a horrible person, and it’s great that the epilogue shows he still is even after a year. enjoyed it all a lot

I was really expecting some huge twists throughout this and it didn’t really have that. It was a slow reveal throughout and you were given pieces here and there. That’s by no means a bad thing!
I really liked the characters and this had such an ambience to it, the entire time reading this I was so tense waiting for more information and what was going to happen next.
I really liked it and was really on the edge of my seat at times!

I usually don't read synopses of thrillers and mysteries because they tend to spoil the plots but I could have benefitted from reading this one before going in. Like other mysteries from Southeast Asia, this one may be too much of a slow burn for most thriller addicts but I don't count myself among that group.
At first, I found myself siding with Yu-jin and intensely disliking his mother, but as the story unraveled and I saw things from her perspective, I changed my mind. The language and some of the situations were a lot more intense than I was expecting, so be forewarned.
This book probably has everything you want if you're looking for a book about a psychopath, although enthusiasts may want more blood and gore, which I was happy to do without.

This was exactly the book I needed to get out of my funk. An international thriller that had me rooting for a killer. The translator did a wonderful job making it understandable yet still uniquely Korean. Would love to see a movie adaptation both of her other books have been adapted so I'm holding hope to see this in the screen. Korea has a way with horror and thrillers/suspense.
