Rush is straight up husband material and Gia deserves him
Okay, the thing is...I really like this book. The problem is I had one GIANT problem with the ending that is a major spoiler so I won't say it, but it essentially cheapened/ruined this book for me. :( It's a tiny thing that could have easily been fixed and yet- it pissed me off. So I landed in the middle with stars.

Wauw this duet was so good! This author duo just works for me.
Rush is everything and I need one of him in my life. I love him and Gia together and the way that their relationship showed that sometimes there’s ups and downs in a relationship.

Ugh. I knew I should have stopped at book 1. I knew the ick wouldn't let up and I knew I was going to end up HATING this story.
But I am a SUCKER for drama. I gobble that shit up.
Usually.
Until people start acting like absolute idiots and frustrate the shit out of me.
In book 1, Gia was full of life. She was sassy and funny and strong-willed. Even when she was scared she had strength.
In this book she becomes a pathetic mess, begging for love from a man who's barely grown up enough to know how to wipe his own ass effectively.
Rush. Woo-boy.
I KNEW that he wasn't ready for raising a kid with this woman. In book one he goes from "I've never had a relationship and I don't want one" to "I wanna fuck this woman so bad, I'll suck it up and give dating a try just to get into her pants." In the blink of an eye.
But in book 1, he had his moments. He was nothing but supportive of Gia once he finds out she's pregnant. Even when he was trying to keep things separate, there was genuine care there.
In this book--he's an ass. His immaturity really shows itself and despite being told by the authors CONSTANTLY how good a person he is, he does nothing for well over half the book except hurt the woman he's supposedly madly in love with.
The angst was dragged out and stupid.
This book gets 1 star for Elliott. He's a good (read: disgusting) villain. Keeland and Ward do an excellent job of making him a real awful, hateful, horrible human being.
But I'm taking 4 stars for the rest of the above, and because this book did not need to exist. Most of it was just Rush being in his head and being an ass. It was repetitive and went nowhere. We could have added 100 pages to book 1 and not bothered with another publication process.

Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward deliver an angsty, heartbreaking, sexy and swoony conclusion to their Rush duet that left a big smile on my face.
Rebel Heart picks up right where Rebel Heir left off when Gia realizes who her baby’s biological father is. She’s mortified and heartbroken because she needs to tell Rush, but in doing so it will most likely destroy everything she was building with him. Things look even worse when Rush finds out through a third party, but the facts remain the same and Rush must decide if his love for Gia is bigger than the seemingly Herculean obstacles they must face.
Gia had moved to the Hamptons for writing inspiration and got a job at The Heights, Rush’s restaurant/bar, to supplement her income. As the summer comes to a close and her relationship with him is undetermined, Gia needs to determine what’s best for her and her baby. In order to move forward, they must both see beyond past hurts and push away fears. The love and attraction between them is undeniable, but is it enough?
In Rebel Heart, while Gia is even more determined and brave in order to face motherhood, Rush isn’t the intimidating boss but he certainly does brood. Mostly he agonizes over the big decision he must make and showed not just his love for Gia but his maturity since meeting her. It was angst inducing and drama filled, at times it felt like it took him forever and a day to come to a decision, but it was also necessary. Both were equally appealing characters whose chemistry, banter and developing relationship made this story a great emotional read.
Rebel Heart is rife with delicious banter, angsty twists and turns, and an unputdownable swoony romance with happy ending.
Rebel Heart is book #2 of the Rush Series Duet by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland. Told from both points of view with a happy ending.

Baaaahhhhhh I just..... I had high hopes. I really was so excited for this book/series and then I got to reading it and I felt it was okay. After reading book two I just want to put it behind me.
Again, I said it in the last book, this wasn't bad and not worth reading; having said that, it wasn't amazing either. I always find this happens with my thoughts on Vi and Penelope collabs. I love the storyline, characters, and twists, but I think it's the dialogue that is just not what I expect it to be at the end of it all. It feels like it isn't enough for what I expect the story to be.
I feel like I'm alone in thinking this because everyone seems to love their books and I can totally see why, but I think it's just not for me. I'm on the hunt for the best of the best though and I hope to find it. I HAVE FAITH IN THESE TWO, WE JUST KEEP MEETING ON THE WRONG TERMS.
