Well this was pretty basic, but I've never read BoP before so it worked for me. Time to get the band back together!

I had a few minor complaints about continuity, especially where Helena/Grayson was concerned, but the was a nod or two to mollify me in the last few issues.

I think the final issue was a bit of a letdown with the dialogue - didn't seem to flow with art. I wonder if the Marvel method was in play?

However, there was just enough sly quippage overall to say this has been one or my favorite Rebirth reads.

  • Strong character development? Yes

I'm really enjoying reading comics on DC Universe. It's quite different to pull them up on your television - and I like it more than I thought.

Quite fascinating to see the rebirth (ha!) of Batgirl and Oracle.

Oh, this was absolutely fantastic. As someone who is coming into Rebirth with mostly fresh eyes, I found this to be surprisingly wonderful at getting me invested in this team despite really knowing nothing about any of the various versions of Birds of Prey beyond superficial details. And aside from Beyond Burnside, I've never read any Batgirl.

I also only know very basic things about Black Canary and Huntress but at the end of the day, everything I needed to know was provided in this book, which is something that can't be said for all of the Rebirth books I've read.

This book (and also Detective Comics) highlights everything I want from a comic book: a mixture of humour, action and emotions. I'm sure some people prefer dark and gritty stuff but that's not really my thing.

Flaws? Well, the art was mostly excellent but there were a few bad faces and in the panel where Dinah kisses Babs, Babs's eyes are inexplicably blue, but it's just the one panel so...

Yeah, I can't think of anything else to complain about. This is a nearly perfect book.

2.5 stars. This started off promising but it really lost me towards the end. I don't think I'll be reading any more DC Rebirth comics unless they're highly recommended to me. I've got to say though I love Batgirl's outfit so much, and I like her as a character. I thought some of Huntresses backstory that this volume explored was quite interesting, but I don't understand Black Canary and I just think as a character she's not for me. The plot didn't interest me past the first couple of issues and then it started to drag so overall my experience reading this wasn't great.

What happens when the most powerful hacker gets hacked? Oracle's name is being used to sell some of the most important information to the bad guys, so Batgirl will need all of the birds of prey to help her!

Sometimes I worry I am too generous a rather, but the truth is that I have so little time to read I just read stuff that I pretty much know I am going to love. This was no different. Fantastic. Probably a 4.5/5.

This concept had potential but wasn't executed particularly well imo. Helena is awesome as ever but if anything, this story did not need six chapters to get to the point.

For starters, I don't like the design of this book. Black Canary looks more like Edgar Winter than a Bird of Prey. Plus the Huntress/mob storyline is so tired. I want to like this, but it's just making me miss Burnside.

We talk about this and the Birds of Prey in general on a special episode of the All the Books Show: https://soundcloud.com/allthebooks/episode-234-birds-of-prey
