Probably 5 Stars but I'll reassess when I read Grace Burrowes' novella.

Lieutenant Mayhew’s Catastrophe By Emily Larkin
5 Stars.

I loved this from the pun in the title to the HEA. Lieutenant William "Will" Mayhew and Wilhelmina "Willie" Culpepper (yes the similarity in names comes up) travel from London to Southampton with two kittens. In only 18 hours a lot happens: a storm, a sprained ankle, mud (lots of it), a talkative farmer, a taciturn farmer, a scaredy horse, a big horse, a love that's meant to be, and a few more cats.

I liked Mayhew in [b:Lady Isabella's Ogre|36507490|Lady Isabella's Ogre|Emily Larkin|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1509427280l/36507490._SY75_.jpg|58226750] and it was nice to see him and his kittens Bellyrub and Scout get their HEAs.

Tags- Military: both MCs have a military background Mayhew serves in the Rifle Brigade and Willie traveled with her colonel father all over the world and yearns to go back to the adventurous military life; Locations: London to various parts of Hampshire (Winchester, Abbot's Barton, Headbourne Worthy, Winnall, Twyford, etc.)

Catnip and Kisses by Grace Burrowes
4 Stars
Two nerds find love and two cats find a home. Bread scientist and youngest son of an Earl Max and wannabe librarian and heiress Lady Antonia meet over books and cats.

Quote I liked: He struck her as a book with its pages bound in the wrong order.

Both stories in this anthology featured rather adorable cats. The main characters were quite nice too. I think I liked Emily Larkin's story a bit more (it was more developed) but there were some great moments in the Grace Burrowes novella.

Grace Burrowes and Emily Larking have combined with a couple of cute novellas, perfect for a quick evening read. Ms. Burrowes is one of my favorite romance authors and often participates in collections, but I find the other stories don't match up. I'm happy to report that I found both stories here equally charming.
Ms. Larkin's novella is actually a continuation to a book of hers I just finished. I enjoyed it much more, to be honest. Willie and Will are adorable, a soldier's daughter and a soldier, accosted by inconveniences and accidents and meeting them all with a laugh and good humor. And we have more kittens.
Ms. Burrowes's story involves Max Haddonfield who we've met before. Neither he nor Antonia are willing participants in the ton's events, so their meeting in the library disguises who they both are. Yet, it's obvious they're perfect for each other. We get to see some of Ms. Burrowes's other characters in a lovely story about two people who need each other.
I did take 1 star off because both stories are pretty much inst-love, a trope I dislike, though I understand that romance novellas often use it due to the length limitations. Still, this is a lovely read and I recommend both novellas.

It had cats, that's all it really needed. However it also had heroines with self-confidence and a wonderful sense of humour and heroes with the common sense to recognize a good thing when they saw it. Very fun.

Two delightful novellas from the Regency order. Lt. Mayhew’s Catastrophe is a secondary character in Emily Larkin’s series. The novella is so delightful! I truly smiled all through it and it made me feel so happy! It’s a book that will truly lift your spirits.

Grace Burrowes is a new author for me. I thoroughly enjoyed her story, Catnip and Kisses. It has characters who are intriguing. I’ll be looking for her other books in the series.

Two totally delightful books!

This review is for Grace Burrowes' contribution: A Regency roadtrip with kittens. Pure indulgent sweetness! (Also, this box set is 99 cents today, a good excuse to splurge!)

And Emily Larkin's: A new-to-me author who is going on my must-read list! I think her novella was even better than Burrowes', full of stray cats, a librarian, and a scientist.
