4.5⭐ for the series
Powerful characters, sex and violence. Thoroughly entertaining!

March 2022. BL manga volume 1 of a series about a Yakuza, power struggles within the groups, and an unusual relationship with his new body guard.
Dark, twisted, and absolutely not for everyone, but fascinating and and intriguing. Very explicit and crude in its discussions between members of the groups, with just a couple explicit moments shown.
Sac Library has volumes 1 and 2, of the 6 translated to english so far.
“Twittering Birds Never Fly” volume 1 by Kou Yoneda.

Judge me. Judge the hell out of me but I could not put this down.
Okay, so this is a Yaoi Manga. Obviously. And by that cover, you know exactly what you're getting. There are quite a few sex scenes in this series and none of them loving or romantic.
This is either the 4th or the 5th manga I've read and I this is my favorite! Hear me out.
** Mentions of sexual assault **
This is the story of Yashiro, the leader Shinseikai and Chikara Doumeki, a former cop who becomes Yashiro's bodyguard. At first, Yashiro gets off on trying to make Doumeki uncomfortable because he finds him attractive. He's speaks very frankly of his sex life and has sex with men in front of him. Again, these encounters aren't at all loving and romantic. Yashiro gets off on sex where he's basically treated like an object. His partners can be cruel, uncaring, and rough. At times, it was kind of hard to read.
Yashiro was sexually assaulted by his stepfather as a child and that changed the way he views relationships. Doumeki witnessed his father sexually assaulting his younger sister and that changed the way he views sex, in general. Yashiro is a masochist and shies away from his partners getting too attached and Doumeki is impotent. It's a formula for a relationship that you might think shouldn't work at all, but I think it's kind of obvious how this would work.
I won't spoil what comes later, although I've read much further than this volume.
Doumeki wanted to work for Yashiro because he finds him beautiful. This series is full of Doumeki doing everything he can to stay by Yashiro's side and it's really moving. Despite several situations that should be off putting, Doumeki stays and dedicates his life to trying to keep Yashiro safe. It's one of the most complex, endearing relationships I've ever read. Ever.
Anyway, this isn't for everyone. I mean that because some of the themes may be a bit much for someone. Judge me all you want but I put other books down to keep reading this one because I had to know what happened next.
5 stars.

This manga is full of fascinating and deeply flawed characters who are all messed up in their own ways. It is somewhat lacking in plot, but if you read for characterization and are looking for something super dark, you may love this!
As a side note, with the way that the speech bubbles were drawn and positioned, I found it difficult to tell which character was talking most of the time—most manga make an effort to make that visually obvious, but not this one.

BL entre cap yakuza i subordinat expolicia a qui no se li empalma per un trauma (veure son pare violar sa germana). S'acaben enamorant, però de manera força tèrbola i amb disputes de grups yakuza pel mig. La trama es complica per moments...
I really enjoyed this. Really rooting for the 2 MCs to end up together. Honestly, the romance aspect of BL and yaoi is so much more compelling than shoujo mangas.

I finally got my hands on the physical copies so I'm rereading so I can hopefully get a better understanding of what the heck is happening. It can be a little confusing at times because of the way the speech bubbles are it's hard to tell who is talking and then with the weird online translations it just made everything so confusing. But I'm so ready to read this again, it's already a little easier to understand. I really do like this series. I love Yashiro and Doumeki so much. It's a weird story, kind of fucked story and definitely not for everyone, but it's really good.

I think these kind of weird, fucked up Yakuza stories are some of my favorites. Kind of the same vibe as Jealousy, but different. I think the writing is a little confusing sometimes, but I'm really enjoying this. I want to see Doumeki and Yashiro's strange relationship develop.

I guess I should have trusted the blurb. That was intense.
