This is a cool contemporary, very very modern romance book. I totally loved the take this whole book had. I listened to this as an audiobook which might be why I was uncomfortable by parts of the book. Rebekah did a great job at giving us relatable characters. Xeni is a Los Angeles school teacher and she’s got a relatable personality. She’s slightly more confident than your average woman but honestly I think she was written that way so that things in the book wouldn’t be so awkward.  For my taste this was a little bit too straight forward in terms of spice. I did like it, but it was very modern and different to what I’m used to reading. Also the narration was by a man portraying Xeni and I think that might’ve been what made me feel awkward. I think this is a great book to read considering this is how most things happen in the era we’re living in. Definitely not like the traditional courting we’re used to when we’re in search of a partner. Definitely an 18+ book. I also want to warn that there are lgbtq+ elements but this is about a relationship between a bisexual man and besexual woman.

I really enjoyed this! Xeni and Mason were really sweet, and I LOVED their dialogue (which is rare in contemporary romances for me).

Sweet and fluffy! Also, has one of my favorite tropes: "my elderly relative thought we'd be perfect for each other so she stipulated in her will that we MUST spend time with each other in order to get our inheritance."

My only complaint was I felt that the third-act break up should have been longer (like, we go from 7/8 of this book taking place over like 2 weeks to 6 months happening in 2 chapters, it's a weird vibe) or just not have been there. It just threw off the pacing imo.

I really liked this story, and I particularly liked the couple. They had great chemistry together and their banter was top notch. Mason had my type humor so I enjoyed him as a character a lot. And their scenes together were pretty hot (p3gging anyone?!?). That said, I think there were some pacing issue, and I wish we had gotten to know the characters better. I feel like we get some semi-superficial version of them, and that might be because both are going through a lot, but it left me wanting to know more about them. I also disliked Xeni's family and how much of a push over she was when it came to them. She had every right to be upset, and I felt like her family was gaslighting her, and getting mad at her for being rightfully mad. I would have liked some groveling from her mother.

I enjoyed the audiobook, especially the Scottish accent.

I read Rafe a while back and I enjoyed it so when I saw this spin-off I immediately started reading it. It just took me some time to finish (I forgot I was reading it, was in slump), but this was actually rlly cute. I am now a Rebekah Weatherspoon fan.

The main characters are so sweet and they're so genuine to each other, it rlly made me happy.

If ur skimming reviews to check whether or not to read this book, I am here to tell you that yes, u should read it rn.
