The tension, ALL the steam, the gritty, raw passion, and of course all the dark mafia deals...Gorgeous Monster is a wicked good read.
Whew!! The Marchetti Monster is smoking hot and lives without regret, he is a mafia don afterall, but his daughters' best friend, who ask him to protect her life, may be the first deal he lives to regret or does he??
Natalia is super feisty with a mouth that tends to get her into trouble, but around Cristian that mouth also keeps her alive. Yes, it's a very fine line between life and death throughout the entire book, but that line also kept the pages turning with all the hot, steamy chemistry between Natalia and Cristian.
Obviously there is an age gap between Cristian and Natalia, she is his daughter's best friend after all, but for me, it was truly non-existent while I read the book. Their chemistry is off the charts, which is probably one reason why it wasn't an issue. The plot also kept rolling and never stopped, which was another huge factor. There was never a lull, allowing my brain to ponder and wander. So I loved how quickly paced, yet well thought out the entire storyline happened.
The mafia world has now been set in Gorgeous Monster and Cristian Marchetti is just the first mobster to be introduced. I'm really excited to return to this world in the next book.

“Just like we’re improving your taste in the cock you suck, I’m upgrading your taste in lunch as well.” He roughly digs the tip of his finger into my lip. “Consider it a favor.”
After months of scouring through romance.io, filtering through their tropes (using my non-existent knowledge of permutations & combinations), Charity Ferrell's ••Marchetti Mafia•• was my jackpot moment. I HAVE to let you know that if you loved [b:Reign of a King|53401044|Reign of a King (Kingdom Duet, #1)|Rina Kent|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1601330983l/53401044._SY75_.jpg|82544990] then this SHOULD be on your TBR! Most of the "if you liked this, you'll like that" for dark, angsty, anti-hero romances by RK were absolute trash in my opinion. Readers seem to enjoy them just the same but I dunno, they don't give me the same rush. Either the pacing is off-putting or the male lead is a Joe Goldberg mixed with Edward Cullen (yikes!)
This one though, it hit all the right spots. With Gorgeous Monster you're looking at - best friend's father trope but hear me out! It's not the typical, raunchy read where the characters act with their libidos, the storyline is fresh, engaging and Natalia's character never allows for a dull moment. Even Mr. Monster Marchetti won't seem like an aging old man in his late 40s or early 50s. The way he was portrayed in the book, I imagined him to be in his early 30s. The supporting characters add dimension to the novel and hold it up very well. Unfortunately, the intimate scenes were, for the lack of better term, very vanilla. Don't worry though, no dull moments what with Cristian Marchetti's dirty talk ~

This story gave me Helen of Troy vibes, mafia style. Natalia made the mistake of dating one of the most ruthless mafia princes in New York. What she didn’t realize is that you can never just leave a mafia man. Her second and third mistakes were when she did leave Vinny Lombardi and ran to her best friend’s father for help. Problem is Christian Marchetti is a rival mafia family don. Little did Natalia know that Christian saw his opportunity to use Nat as a pawn to take down Vinny, hopefully without waging a war. She ran from one monster to another.
Let’s unpack these characters. Christian is cold, hard, and somewhat heartless in his demeanor. He keeps his emotions in check, but not so much his anger. Natalia is naive and IMO makes horrible decisions. Even though she wears Christian down and opens him up, she still acts immature at times. I just couldn’t relate to her and how quickly she becomes submissive. Vinny is without a doubt unhinged, calculated, and power hungry. He won’t let Nat go without a fight. She will either belong to him or be dead. I’ll mention Benny Marchetti last. He is Christian’s son and more of a side character in this book. Honestly, I was more intrigued by Benny out of all the characters. I was kinda crushing on Benny, but I also feel bad for him with his prearranged future. I am looking forward to more of Benny and his fiancé, Neomi. I think that is going to be a wild ride.
I do love the dark and dangerous side of a mafia romance. I will say this book got better in the second half. The mafia aspect of it was a little light. The steam was certainly on point. The chemistry between Natalia and Christian was better in the second behalf as well. I just had a hard time with how fast things moved between them.
