Beaucoup aimé. Ça m'a donné envie de lire Lovecraft pour mieux comprendre.
Je trouvais que le roman réussissait bien à trouver un équilibre réalité/science-fiction.

Wommmmmmp, wommmmmmp. The first bit pulled me in so quickly that I was excited to read this but it dissipated with each time jump. If the first section had been longer and perhaps provided more background for Roger, Chloe and Jon my investment would have been stronger and maybe I would have been more clear about Roger.
The Eggs portions were fine, but the storyline about his son could have been dropped. I know this serves to show why Lo is so attached to her students, but it felt unnecessary. It would have been a lot funner and more salacious if she was sleeping with a student or something!
I love the idea of the story but this book didn't work for me. Maybe Chloe could have taken up for her friend once or twice at some point. I cared nothing about anyone who died at any point in the novel other than the pets. Overall the book made me feel like too much wad going on but not in the right places!?

I only read this because it was a contender for the Tonight Shows summer read. I normally don’t read fantasy/Sci-fi, so maybe there were some things lost on me. It kept my interest until the end but I thought it was too love story forward and I wanted more of the fantasy part.
Here’s my reading problem.
I *think* to myself that I should branch out and read books in different genres.
I rarely do.
Then, when I finally do, I pick a book that I end up not liking, which makes me even more disinclined to try that genre again in the future.
This is that book.
I’m sure it would have been a better read for me if I enjoyed supernatural stories. But I rarely do, and this wasn’t the exception.
It didn’t help that it happened to be set in the same town where I live, and there were certain factual errors that took me out of the story. (NH doesn’t have packies! The Telegraph is not a daily paper anymore! Legs and eggs is in Providence, not NH!)

Loved Jon and Eggs! Thought the plot was interesting and different. Kept me engaged the whole book to. There are romance elements that I enjoyed but don’t read this book thinking it’s gonna be a love story. The lovecraft pieces are well thought out too! Does leave you with a lot of questions but, sometimes that’s life!!
This is such a compelling story - and the Audible readers are great! But - I didn't really get what I was expecting (or maybe needing?) from the ending.
Four stars is a little generous for this book; I liked it more than some other three-star “thrillers” I’ve read recently (thanks, in part, to the three-person POV) but I probably wouldn’t read it again, though I am going to encourage my husband to read it because I’m interested in his perspective on Eggs.
