Emma has been transferred to the small town of Chestertown. She is a public defender on loan from the city to cover for the one out on maternity leave. Emma hates small towns. She is a loaner who tends to keep to herself. She doesn't like everyone knowing her business and she doesn't like to be social. She is much happier with her nose in a book.
When Emma starts to settle in she makes friends. Something she has never had before. They push her to be social. When the hot cop Luke starts to flirt with her, she feels it is a mistake. But when his advances become stronger and he lets her know he wants her, things start to fall in place and she feels like she belongs for the first time in her life. But when she gets attacked she cannot figure out who would want to hurt her. Can Luke find out who is after her before it is too late?
Overall this book was a pretty good read. I did kind of find Emma to be a bit withdrawn and introverted. I liked her character. Luke on the other hand was a pain in the butt throughout the story. I had a hard time falling in love with his character. To me he felt self absorbed and let others influence his decisions. His back and forth with his feelings gave me whiplash.
This book had some steamy and hot moments mixed with thrilling suspense. This helped to keep the story interesting and fun. The other characters were fun and energetic. I loved the girls. They were fun. I do wish that Samantha would have had more of a backbone. But I did find it cool that she did not have a bad thing to say about anyone. So refreshing.
If you like a good suspense romance, then this book will be enjoyable to you. It has thrills, chills and fun.

I have to be honest I wasn't crazy about this romance. The heroine was a bit too insecure and Luke came on too strong. Neither were very memorable characters and all they did was complain about her cliental. The author writes very shallow characters and an uninspiring plot.

Overall Opinion:
For the next three months, the new public defender Emma moves into the small town of Chestertown where she comes across Luke, the police officer who challenges her at every turn. Their relationship heats up but what will they do when someone threatens to tear them apart?

Lea Coll's “Ms. Lawyer” falls into the mediocre category. I liked the overall premise of the story which I was drawn to when reading the blurb but ultimately it fell flat. Emma and Luke lacked depth, there was no excitement leading up to the built-up of the conclusion of the novel and I frankly was done and over this half way through. Nothing particularly stood out and overall writing left much to desire. Basically “Ms. Lawyer” shall remained unmemorable by my standards. I appreciate the ARC and the time the author took to write this but to say the least, this just wasn't for me.

This is the first book I have read from this author and it will not be the last. I really liked Emma she was a great character she is a new public defender and seems to keep butting heads with Luke who is a local cop i have to admit i was a little confused by Luke he kinda came across as two separate characters at times the playboy and the hero but i did warm to him, straight away you can feel the chemistry between these two and I really enjoyed getting to know them and thought they were just great together.

This was a fun read. The characters were likable and you really wanted Luke and Emma to overcome whatever obstacles, including stubbornness, so they would get and stay together. This book is quick paced, easy to read and the story flowed making for an enjoyable novel. This book also had wonderful supporting characters which deserve their own stories - some of which are already available and others are in the works.

This book could fit into the Romance and Mystery/Suspense genres- my two favorites at the moment!

Emma Ryan is a determined, hard-working, and introverted public defender in the city. When transferred to the small town of Chestertown, she isn't sure how she is going to like it or survive. I loved reading about how she stepped out of her shell, made friends and found police officer Luke Hudson.

Speaking of Luke Hudson - swoon. I immediately fell in love with Luke. He could be a little hard-headed and stubborn at times, but it made me fall in love with him, even more, when he finally came to his senses.

Emma and Luke are complete opposites, even down to their professions. But it makes for an entrancing romance. Add in the mystery of someone sending threatening text messages and trying to scare Emma out of town and this book becomes an absolute page-turner!

I had actually already read the second book in this series, and since I enjoyed it, I thought I would go back and read book one (I usually like to read the series in order). Sometimes first books in a series can take a little more time to warm up and get going, but if anything, this book was even better than Ms Baker (which I thoroughly enjoyed).

This was an excellent first book, a really enjoyable cute romance, with an exciting mystery and fabulous friendships. The characters are great, and I love the depth of the female lead, she knows what she wants, but she also knows what she deserves; a heroine you can look up to!!

I would highly recommend reading this book and the whole Eastern Shores series.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Choose Me by Lea Coll was a cute read. I loved the small-town feel of the story (especially because I knew the setting). I loved the struggle that the main character, Emma, felt between the pull of the city (and anonymity) and a small-town. I also really loved Luke and his commitment to his town and love for making his community better. I did struggle a bit, and felt that Luke came across as a little immature at times. The characters were quick to jump to feelings a little more than I like.

As a whole, I enjoyed Choose Me. I will certainly be on the lookout for more from Lea Coll.

I really liked the plot for this book and I loved the male main character. The female main character was pretty good as well. I felt the plot could have been better executed as there were quite a few scenes/actions that I didn't find believable. When a character is portrayed as being smart and having common sense it is frustrating when they seem clueless. Overall this was a decent romance and it had some suspense as well. It took me only a few hours to read and I would say it was worth it!
