This book was beautiful, but so so sad. It took me a while to finis it because I cried almost every time I read it

Meh. Perhaps not as strong a connection to the story because I’m not Irish? It was like listening to a rambling old man recount his life. I wanted to like it but it fell short.

2.5 stars

Maybe even 4.5 stars. This is a beautiful book full of love and heartbreak. I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would and I loved spending time with Maurice. That doesn't mean that it isn't well done, it just isn't quite as edgy.

Had lost my reading mojo and this has brought it back. What a book. Smiled and cried. Loved every single page. Didn't want it to end.

If you were asked to name the five most influential people in your life who would they be? Anne Griffin’s protagonist knows well who they are and shares his memories one long night while drinking his favourite whiskey as he raises five toasts to the five people who have meant the most to him.
This novel will make you smile, laugh and maybe share a tear. This is Anne Griffin’s first novel and is definitely a recommended read.

I thoroughly enjoyed ‘When all is said.’ I loved how there was so much humour in a book that was predominantly about loss and grief. I could ‘hear’ the tale being recounted in a lilting Irish accent making it all the more charming and beguiIing. Maurice - the adult - was both a charmer and a man who was not afraid to voice an opinion and say what he thought, yet his biggest regret was that he didn’t express the depth of his feelings towards Sadie and Kevin in words or actions.

A quiet tale, beautifully and effortlessly told, that is sure to pull on the heartstrings on more than one occasion.

4.5 stars :)

That was awesome. Two in a row that left me with a little lump in the throat.

Well done.
